Depending on the local conditions, the DCC could think the car pulling onto an off ramp is still in front. Pretty sure there are warnings about the system not being 100% perfect in the manual.

The car in front is moving out of my path, but the radar still senses it and acts accordingly. The system is not smart enough to determine our relative paths. My spouse's Subaru with "Eyesight" (stereoscopic vision - no radar) is smart enough to avoid this flaw.

In any case, DRCC/LTA should never be left alone. Driving is still the driver's responsibility even when DRCC/LTA is on. DRCC/LTA is only there to help. It can do unexpected things.

Apparently, TJA on Gen 5 Prius Prime is more capable, but the speed is limited to 25 mph.

But I don't understand why the car would come to a full stop. I understand that the car could slow down, but the radar cannot see to the side or ignores it if it is outside the lane, even if there is a stopped vehicle on the side. If that were the case, whenever I passed a disabled car on the shoulder when I am in the right lane, the car would come to a full stop, which gladly never happens.

Remember that DRCC is focused on the car ahead. If it no longer "sees" that car, DRCC will often shut down. A car on the side of the road is easier to ignore using the video data to override the radar information, But now you have me wearing my design engineer hat for this discussion.

Also, yours is TSS-P. Mine is TSS 2.0. Yours doesn't have LTA with DRCC. Perhaps, yours is behaving differently than mine.

The manual has plenty of warnings about when these systems may not work properly. One of those for the DRCC (p.265, 2023 Prius manual), "When a vehicle cuts in front of your vehicle or changes lanes away from your vehicle extremely slowly or quickly." If it is possible for TSS 3.0 to not realize the car it is following has moved out of its lane, thus matching speed or even stopping for a car leaving the highway, then it is possible for the older systems to do so.
