I have the dr Prius app and the veepeak Bluetooth reader.
It threw the code a few times about 2 weeks ago. The hybrid battery still charges fine even when it throws the code. I took the battery out and cleaned all the corrosion. It was pretty bad

I drive the car for past 2 weeks putting over 1000 miles on it and out of nowhere it trips the p3000 again

I know I most likely will need a way to read the sub code but not sure how to read it. Don’t really want to pay a dealer to do it

    thanks Brian
Are you saying my current obdII reader will work, that I just need a different app?

No, you need a different obd2 scanner and app.

You use the Autel MaxiAP200 app with the Autel AP200 obd2 adapter that you purchase. Go to the Autel website for more information.

Read the entire thread that was linked.
Short form is that some scantool apps will work with "3rd party" VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface - the bluetooth OBD adapter). This includes apps like Torque, Dr Prius, or Carscanner. All useful but each is very limited.

Most of the more capable apps can scan all systems on a Gen 2 Prius. Each of these apps will only work with its own VCI. So the Autel app needs the Autel VCI. You can't use the Autel VCI with any other app. And so on.

Not every one of the apps has the same functions. Some can read INF detail codes, others can't. A couple have bidirectional controls, others do not. Etc.

That said, you do need a more capable scantool (the Autel AP200 is a good "basic all system" diagnostic tool), but you do not really need to get the INF code for P3000. That code is set in the hybrid control ecu, and basically says "hey, the HV battery ecu has a problem, go over there and check it out".

So whatever the INF code is, your first step is to check for codes in the HV battery ecu.

FYI, I did test the Autel on an iphone a while ago and had no problem, don't know how it works with whatever the latest version is.

I just bought an Autel setup to work with my iPhone last week and it did great, so there's one more to count.

Their account setup/device binding/firmware update procedure is pretty clumsy, but once you get through that the app is straightforward and the level of access is excellent.

I’ve been driving the car this morning, took about 45 mins for it to throw the code
Seem like it only pops up when I come to a complete stop. That mean anything to you?

Yes, it means you need a capable scanner to read all the trouble codes, not just the P3000 code that you already can read.
