Cutting Edge (silver) paint color

I’m pretty sensitive to color. : } In person I don’t see any beige in the cutting edge paint. After test driving I went back and looked at the car in every possible lighting. : / Least favorite time is bright sunlight where it looks sort of dull silver to me. It’s definitely more sparkled than the softer metallic silver of my 2009. The speckles are more visible up close in the cutting edge paint. I still think the red is the sharpest color but I’m not going there. I saw a black one that had daisy stickers all over it. Except for the stickers it looked pretty generic because it has no accent colors. JMHO

 

The Prius I have ordered here in the UK is called Silver Metallic. Is it different shade of silver compared to Cutting Edge that is available in the US?

 

No, it should be the same color. You can check the three-character paint code to be sure. Paint names could vary around the world. For example, my Gen 4 color—only available for the Prius Prime—is called blue magnetism in the US and spirited aqua metallic in Europe.

 

Was using my silver touch-up paint yesterday: day before, parking, I JUST touched the car behind, was rewarded with a few licence plate scuff marks in the painted-plastic rear fairing. Miss our 81 civic.

 

I remember when Japanese motorcycle manufacturers used very strange terminology when describing their colours. I recall Suzuki had ‘Candy Apple Red’ so I guess it’s pleasing that Toyota don’t call it ‘Slippery Slimy Silver’.

 

That's a pretty nice compare picture. Red is the coolest color in this car, followed by blue, and in this photo it is close. Black is boring. Perhaps this is a subjective issue

 

Candy-apple red is a very common description though. It refers to deeply reflective premium three-coat dark reds such as the spectacular Mazda red. Toyota's three-coat supersonic red doesn't even come close to the Mazda red.

 

Our son's got a red CX-5; the touch-up pen is a nightmare to use. And the hood seems to chip when you look at it.

 

The Mazda MX5 in Burgundy Red is bloody gorgeous. Is that red you are referring to?

I parked near my dentist’s cutting edge Prime this morning. In the rain the Gen 5 cutting edge looks quite similar to my Gen 2 silver. I guess I can now say I like the look of the cutting edge in the rain and in the dark under street lights. In the meantime I’m reading dated articles on potential upcoming Subaru hybrids. Function verses gas mileage. : /

 

I think the yellow is my favourite variation so far. It's got this depth to it and its super cool. We got cutting edge silver because of the zero cost colours for our SE prime we liked the silver more. The extra price for other colours available to the trim weren't things we liked enough to want to spend more.

 

I loved the silver on my 22 Prime! Not so much the Gen 5 silver. Also must say the 22 was prone to paint chipping (in first year) on the top of the rear fascia. I got touchup paint but traded before using it, the new White color has enough silver flake in it for me and so far seems a more durable finish.

 

My color choices in order were red, white, silver, and blue. The car the dealership was able to get was silver so that's what we got. The more I look at it the more I like it, it doesn't show dirt at all and the silver and black trim pieces along with the wheels look good together. In my opinion, of course. I will share a picture once I meet the forum requirements.
