Most fuel efficient 2023 Prius record

Hi everyone I’m new here, big user on the Ioniq forum and ecomodder. I turned my Ioniq hybrid into a fuel saving beast that gets 91 mpg on the highway

my next project is to get a 2023/2024 Prius LE and I’ll be modding it to get better gas mileage. I’m interested I. The AWD version since I do a lot of snowboarding and take a lot of dirt road BLM roads in the summer for gold prospecting. Sadly the awd takes an mpg hit ( though car and driver I believe said the awd version of gen 4 gave 1 extra BETTER mpg on the 70 mph interstate drive test they did)


I want to mod the new Prius to get maximum mpg since apparently Toyota cared about styling and power versus beating Hyundai at the numbers game

a list of mods I will be doing are

air suspension so I can raise clearance even higher for those bumpy roads and then lower it to get better aerodynamics

Possible passenger side mirror removal

flat disc/moon cap wheel covers

a rear wheel fender skirt

box cavity fins at the rear or a possible bot tail trail hitch that’s removable.

Cat shield underneath with possible extra underbody floor coverings and a rear diffuser

the big question I have is about wheels

obviously smaller wheels give better gas mileage, so I’m wondering what’s the smallest wheel size that’ll fit?

my Ioniq uses 195/65/15s and apparently last gen Prius used similar size, along with Corolla hybrid

some other posts I saw mentioned 15s aren’t even possible to fit the brakes for the new Prius

so what are the smallest wheels that’ll fit?

again my goal is fuel efficiency, so a smaller radius wheel and possibly skinnier wheel would be best, made out of extremely light weight aluminum alloy. The stock 17s just seem too big. ( plus pricey when constantly buying new all season/summer tires and winter tires every 2 years on average)

i literally made a video documenting it. had cruise control for 20-30 miles on completely flat at sea level in the willamette valley. no AC

i get about 59 mpg at 80 mph, and high 40s to low 50s going 89-90 mph on the interstates in idaho and utah open desert

 

I’ve had some wheel slip on dirt roads on steep hills here in the mountains in Oregon with low rolling resistance tires. It wouldn’t have happened with awd. Obviously better tires would’ve helped. I’ve never gotten stuck in snow with winter tires, but awd combined with winter tires could open some opportunity for going on trickier terrain, especially with pushing the air lift button and raising clearance a few inches.

 

A lot of people aren’t fans of the design. A top car ceo once said “ we could make the most aerodynamic car possible with over 100 mpg but it would never make it off the sales lot”

im still trying to sell the ioniq and im still trying to find a dealer here in oregon thatll sell an awd prius without crazy mark ups. straight up theft

 

thats nice to know. some people are selling their USED 2024 priuses with 10k miles on them for 5k above msrp on fb market place lol

i saw a white awd le one down in grants pass but no idea how much they will charge and if they can do msrp
