Has anyone gotten any definitive info for if/when production will be resuming and/or the stop sale ending on the prius and priusP (for the US market) ?

Supposedly production in Japan resumed on the 17th. That info was from May 24, and I haven't found if production truly resumed or not. I assume yes. If that's correct, those cars should start arriving in North America in a week or two.

As for when parts will be available to fix the cars currently sitting at the port facilities and dealerships, I haven't seen any info. I'm typically checking TIS a couple times a day for a recall/service campaign update, and I'll post as soon as I see one appear(well, I'll post just after I call my dealer and give them a chance to get my order a bit of a head start - lol).

I just took a look at Toyota's inventory search, and it looks like it's confirmed that production has restarted. Lots of Priuses listed as being in the build phase*, with delivery start dates varying from July 11-25. I mean those dates are the first dates in the window. The earliest window I found was July 11 to July 29, and the latest window I found was July 25-Aug 11.

If the production was still shut down, I would expect either no dates listed, or all the dates would be the same. I'm going to hope that the remedy will hit the US around the same times the new cars do, so hopefully we're down to a couple weeks or less before our dealerships can order the recall fix.

*remember that "build phase" includes the time the car is on a ship; build phase begins when the allocation is made and ends when the car is processed at the delivery port facility

Don't know if the Prius was effected, but Toyota stopped production in Japan for some models this week over parts shortage.

Cars at the ports and dealerships have been sitting for 8+ weeks. They likely have drained 12v batteries and maybe some other issues related to being idled for so long? Does Toyota go through a checklist for these cars before they head out to a customer?

Mine is sitting at a dealer lot, and my dealer told me he has 'driven it around the lot a few times, and gotten lunch with it' sort of thing. So "maybe", but I assume it's mostly up to individual dealers.

I would *hope* Toyota has some sort of 'so the car's been sitting there for 6 weeks' sort of thing, but to what level it's followed/enforced is up for debate.

Im sure they can deal with drained batteries but im curious too what other issues could pop up given my car is one of these standing around for months now. Especially for the main battery (PHEV/Prime)

For most stuff there is a big warranty anyway so im not too worried.

The traction battery has virtually zero self-drain in my 2021 Prius Prime Limited. It didn't even drop a percent when I didn't drive the car for over six weeks last summer. I expect the same in Gen 5.
