You'll want to clean that corrosion and treat the connection with good dielectric grease. Then reseal the cracked body seam filler around the tailgate hatch.

However, that has nothing to do with your present codes. I would click on the snowflake symbol next to the code in Techstream- that's freezeframe data. It should shed some light on what the ecu saw when it set the code.

P0A80 almost always sets when the battery ecu sees the difference in block voltages of greater than 0.3V for "too long" (whatever Toyota says that is).

Dr Prius is useful for quick visual monitoring of battery operation. Most faults show up during heavy accel (discharge) - particularly when State Of Charge is lower.

It might be just the paid version of the app, but Dr Prius can datalog while you drive. Then you can review the data to see what's going on with voltages.

Also, it's normal for pack voltage to go "very" high (250-270V) during heavy decel - charging. If the voltage was 250+V with zero amps, then it certainly would "be in the red" (and maybe set codes).

The high voltage battery ecu is the silver aluminum box next to the contactor relays in the pack housing. It monitors battery pack conditions and sends the data to the hybrid control ecu (also controls the battery fan).

A not uncommon fault is that the orange connector (for the block voltage sense harness) gets corroded and skews the readings. Sometimes minor corrosion can be "cleaned". Other times the harness and ecu must be replaced.

According to the photo, Dr. Prius battery is unbalanced.
Try the Hybrid Assistant app for Android.
It is free and allows you to read data from different systems, generate reports. Including the high-voltage battery in dynamics. This will be informative.

Techstream always shows 19 milliOhm internal resistance after disconnecting 12V.
It is recalculated based on the results of the trips.

 

Disagree. The difference in voltage between the highest and lowest block is only 0.13 V.

The way the Dr. Prius app graphs block voltages visually exaggerates the differences, more so when the differences are small, something I personally do not like.

 

The error is determined by the difference of 0.3V between adjacent blocks. Dr. Prius does not show the frozen state that occurred during the error.
In the photo, the difference between the smallest 1 (17.88) and 10 (18.16).
I also use Hybrid Assistant to check the battery for suitability.

Dr. Prius use some of their own complex approximations and formulas.
Hybrid Assistant simply records the data stream and outputs it to the Reporter in the form of a graph and table

In the Hybrid Assistant menu there is a Hybrid Reporter option.
It is an icon with a wrench at the bottom.
Click on the icon, a menu with Hybrid Reporter chart columns appears.
Click, a table with your trips appears. Select a date and click generate report.
A report with data from many systems is generated.
If a high-voltage battery was diagnosed during a trip, a report on its data will appear. Try it.

For a detailed analysis, it is better to start diagnosing the battery when it has high SOC values and, using a load
(air conditioning, headlights), reduce the SOC by about 10%.
For example, if the initial value is 53%, lower it to 43%.
Then on the graph you can see the state of the pairs of modules very well, and the table will show the values for each pair as average, as well as minimum and maximum.

 

So, when I want to test things, I force charge the hybrid battery. With the car "ready", left foot on the brake, shift to Drive and put right foot on gas pedal (all the way down).

You should see the battery "charging", and State Of Charge (SOC) should go up. It will cease charging around 75-80%.

Now shift to park. Start the "Battery Check" in HA. Turn the A/C on, full blower, (full) LO temperature, (high beam) lights on, rear defroster, etc. (do NOT move your phone around - if I rotate mine sideways and the screen shifts - that will cancel the test)

I end the test when SOC goes down to 45%. Then open up Hybrid Reporter (I say yes to whatever the default settings are). Then scroll through lots of data.

So, when I look at this data, I see a problem, there's a failed module in block 2. Let's walk through it.

The app monitors all the data that the battery ecu has while the test runs. Block voltages, amperage, temperatures, etc.

Now if you look at the chart on page 4, notice the black trace called "delta". That's a value at any given point in time of the voltage difference from the highest block to the lowest. In general that should stay below 0.3V.

Notice at time 19:21 how delta jumps up to 1.6+V. Go down to the block voltage chart on page 7 and you see a block drop by 1.6V at 19:21. That voltage drop causes the indicated State Of Charge to go from 60% to 30%.

Given all the colors on the chart, I couldn't tell which block it was. So go up to the report on page 3, (which one of these is not like the others...) Block 2 has "max bias" of 1.7V and the minimum voltage of 13.7 V - where the rest are all near minimum of 15.2V.

A drop of around 1.5V is diagnostic of a failed cell in a module. So now it's time to figure what you're going to do about it.
