If there's anything we've been trying to say over and over and over about P0AA6, it's that it's not battery out to see if there's a battery leak.

It's scan tool out to see what the INF code is. If it's 612, then you look in the battery. If it's one of the others, then, well, you look there.

If you haven't got a scan tool to see the INF code, you can look up and do what gen 1 Prius owners used to do when they got the equivalent code (it was P3009 in gen 1, and didn't give you the handy INF codes).

    Understood not necessarily battery out
Alright so I need to check INF codes.
That's not possible with Dr prius or torque app?

If not I'll just pick up a scan tool that can do it. And recommendations

About to pull the trigger on the autel Ap2500. That looks to be what will get me the inf codes.

I have a spare old laptop that I can install techstream on but it seems sketch depending on where I get it from. I even saw it for sale on etsy.

I saw advanced plug ins for toyota for the torque app but it says my version of android is too new. I have an old galaxy s9 I can use but I'm not sure if that's old enough?

Thanks in advance for your input

There are a few people here that have the AP2500, not familiar with it myself. There was recent mention of a glitch on Android causing problems (fixed with a not-yet-public update).

From the adcopy, it seems like the AP200 has a couple more functions vs the AP2500. Either should scan all systems including INF codes.

Torque is very limited, and the Toyota pack for it doesn't seem to add anything on a Prius.

Ok so it's been a few weeks and I've noticed a few things

I had a mobile mechanic give it the once over and had it up on a jack/ stands.

Since then the code p0aa6 has appeared less often. There have been days that I have driven without the code showing up at all. I know it's anecdotal but can someone explain this?

Also he had a Launch x431 scanner but couldn't pull any more codes than the p0aa6.

I have another buddy who has another higher level scanner so hopefully I can get more codes.

I haven't had much luck in figuring out what scanner would help. I looked through the list that was linked here and the one I was going to get was the ap200 but now they have the ap2500 which I don't know will do the same thing.

Lastly and less of a priority is that the horn doesn't work. The fuse was pulled out when I checked so I put in a new fuse. As soon as I put the fuse in the horn just blares until I pull the fuse again. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

    Thanks!

The AP2500 will give you inf codes.

It might not be able to do the bi-directional communication required for a few certain repairs- at least that is how I read the differences between the 2500 and the 200.

Your horn problem is likely to be a shorted/damaged clockspring cable in the steering wheel assembly.

I got the clockspring coming and I've found some great videos to get it done myself

So I got the 2500 autel and when I try to click on ev battery function under the service tab on the bottom it just spins for a few moments and doesn't take me anywhere. It had me redeem the free license by scanning the vin but I've had no success in getting anywhere. The app otherwise works fine i guess. It scans and I can clear the error to start the car but again nothing is happening when I try to scan the battery. Can anyone tell me what's happening?

I can try downloading the app on another phone ? . I'm using an s23 currently if that helps

When the Autel is showing the P0AA6, can you get it to show you the freeze frame for the P0AA6? The INF code is in there.

Don't clear the P0AA6 the first time it comes up. There will only be a 526 INF code then, which doesn't tell you anything. The more-specific 611, 612, 613, or 614 will only come up on the next start while the 526 is present.

I believe there are three different scans that you can do. Did you do a full scan?

Edit: You do not want to use the service tab----> ev battery. You need to do a full scan of the car. Also, see post # 33.

I've only ever used the 'full scan' function.

    @Dahvid
Now that the Autel AP2500 doggle and app are working for you, you need to look at the freeze frame data for the P0AA6 code. Also, see posts # 33 & # 21.

After running a "full scan", are there any other trouble codes, or do you only have the P0AA6 code?

Since you own an Autel AP2500, can you please describe to Dahvid how to find the freeze frame data for the P0AA6 code?

I wish I could, but I only spent a few hours using it, that was months ago, and I'm 200 miles away from the car this weekend.

What I do remember is that when I did the 'full scan' option the UI clearly indicated that it was stepping through different software modules to interrogate different ECUs in the car. Afterward it presented a list of all findings.

Freeze frame data was not a real factor in the diagnosis I was working, so I never looked for it.

I might get a few minutes to noodle with it and do screenshots next week, no promises.

So when I do "full scan" it just shows the p0aa6 code. 1 screenshot

Freeze frame says no data 2nd screenshot

Live data only shows engine engine 2 and fuel system 3rd screenshot

This is the home screen 4th screenshot

I find myself to be somewhat technically inclined I'm not a boomer lol. No offense.

But I feel like I've gone through all the options and can't find where the inf codes are.

I do find it strange that under live data it shows nothing
