Yesterday, I was on a remote stretch of road I hadn't been on in about 8 months, and oddly enough, the same thing happened; I got a message, saying "system has stopped." The solution was simple enough, bring the car to a stop, shut it off, and start it normally. These were the only 2 times it has ever happened as I recall. Now, I know the mind can find patterns where they don't exist, but it struck me as a mighty odd coincidence for it to have happened in the same place, that I had only been to twice in 2 years. Is it just a coincidence, or what? A possible explanation I have come up with is that my driving patterns on the trip were similar enough to have triggered the same fault both times. It's not much, but it's all I have.
There was some other blurb I guess, but the solution was to shut off the car and start it up again. My guess is some sort of computer crash.
i hear you. that has never happened to me in 20+ years of 3 prius. i understand how upsetting it might be
I don't know the exact wording, and it doesn't matter. I'm not going to troubleshoot something so minor, that only happens about once a year.
Your idea about similar driving patterns triggering the fault makes sense — sometimes car systems can be sensitive to certain conditions or behaviors that we don’t immediately notice.
