It looks like the big beautiful bill is becoming a reality.

It will make wind and solar energy installations very difficult.

It will end the EV and heat-pump rebates in a few month.

It will make the oil industry very happy.

It will wreak havoc on the poor.

Despite all the cuts, it will raise the budget deficit in never-before-seen amounts.

If you are in the market for an EV, get it before the rebates end in September.

What the senate Republican ‘big beautiful’ bill means for your money

1I agree with the sentiment that this is not a good idea. But how will it wreak havoc on the poor (unless their jobs are something like installing solar? The poor, generally, aren't the ones getting rebates for installing solar.
About the only thing that would affect them is gasoline prices and heating costs.

The state with the highest percentage of solar and wind energy is surprisingly, Texas.

A large percentage of Teslas are manufactured in Texas.

The corporate headquarters of Tesla is in Texas.

Unfortunately, it turns out that the attack on green energy and carbon-emission reduction does not end with the “big beautiful bill.”

Trump now wants to shutdown all climate-research labs, including the main climate observatory in Hawaii.

This is what happens when you elect people with insufficient education to run a government.

So, why is the Republican Party promoting the oil industry again?

More poor in rural communities are supported in senior citizen facilities and medical clinics in red states than in the cities.

The administration relaxed regulations on the coal industries and refunded care for black lung victims.

About 60% of the seniors in memory care or other homes are financed with Medicaid. That is their form of long term care insurance.

    FAFO!

Just wait until those who voted MAGA are told that their grandma with dementia's government subsidy has been canceled and told to pick her up and to take her home.

Societies, civilizations and governments based on hate and demonizing one "untermensch" group by a socially construct pseudo science based superior "ubermensch" group never lasts very long.

The Roman Empire lasted as long as it did, because even a slave could eventually become a citizen. The society eventually collapsed, however, because too many wanted to be included and the society could not provide the expected benefit for the masses.

It is ironic how a large number of the Christian Right Evangelical movement teaches exclusion over inclusion which is blatantly contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

    Joseph and Mary were refugees.

As I understand my 4th grade civics classes The BILL has been a 'reality' since it was written.
I believe you're against it becoming a 'law.'

I seem to recall some rural wisdom about the relationship between eggs and chickens.....

    They're already 'difficult.'
Otherwise I wouldn't have to help the wealthy subsidize them.
    Good!
We've gone to war in my lifetime for 'oil.'
It would be nice just to use what we have in this hemisphere instead of filling up ULCCs in the middle east and shipping the stuff half way across the planet.

    Really?
    In ALL STATES?
    Um.....no.
    Actually? It will not.
I think this is why they call it 'fake news.'
California for example, will continue to give kickbacks to BEV companies after 'a few months.'
    Of course....
You have to actually LIVE in the California.

    YES!
    DO THAT!!
Contribute to the already record high economy under the current Administration!!

I'm not a Republican but what it means to ME (if it passes) is that my taxes will not go up this year.
Since I'm not a salaried employee my personal taxes will probably go down by a bit .... ;)
    (IYKYK)

    Oh?
    FROM where, LIVING where?
Were they LEGAL regugees or illegal?

This claim is patently ahistorical - but I get it.
It makes for a cute bumper sticker.
You're counting on the fact that most people are too busy with their day-to-day lives to learn history.

    PLEASE PLEASE!
Start a thread on this topic so we can explore it together!!!!!!!

(I'll give you a hint to ponder on your way....)
    The Roman Empire. ;)

For Pete's sake give it a rest - get outside and smile at someone you don't know and enjoy another day with your fellow humans.

It's like the compromises Boeing made with the 787 "Dreamliner."

    OH - For Pete's sake!
    It really is true.
Trump's super-power is making people act like Trump!!

    Please.
    Define 'senior.'
As a person who is regularly offered 'senior citizen discounts' I would really like to know where the dividing line is.....

Medicare and Medicaid are both government-funded healthcare programs, but they serve different populations and have distinct characteristics. Medicare is a federal program primarily for individuals 65 and older, and certain younger people with disabilities. Medicaid, on the other hand, is a joint federal and state program that provides health coverage to low-income individuals and families, including children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities

    SO....
Like ALL of the people who GET PAID TO craft my nation's laws.....I haven't read the BBB (three lies for the price of one) but I do not recall any changes to Social Security.
Perhaps some of the 'big brains' in the room can expand on this and tell the room how changes to MEDICARE are spelled out in the BBB........

Once Again - it's pretty bad when Chris Freekin Cuomo is starting to make sense.....

    Personally?
IMHO He's something you do to to your finger to get a small blood sample.
However (comma!!!) now that he is.......um......no longer working for CNN he IS trying to act more like an honest broker.

...you don't think that would be harmful enough?

We were making some real progress, nationally speaking. Just in time for a lot of new electrical demands from industry. With less new generation capacity being installed against that demand, it's fair to expect electricity prices to rise.

    Why?
As an export product to China?

    They have their OWN coal.
Trivia question.....just to give your brain a chance.

How many coal fired plants have been built in America in the last 10 years?
    How about the last 15?

How about coal CONSUMPTION over the last 2 decades?
    Three????

The tax credits weren't just for EVs, solar, and wind. It also covered home heat pumps; high efficiency heating, AC , and hot water; and even things like wood stoves. The poor will be hurt more by other parts, but they also will be stuck with a cheap, inefficient appliance if they need to replace one under this law.

Poor people do not buy new Teslas, nor do they buy new heat pumps, stoves, or HVAC units.
Their LANDLORDS might......but then those costs get passed on to the poorer people renting their houses.

If you're going to BE AGAINST the BBB, then at least do it for the right reason!!!!!
I personally hope it craters in the house and doesn't get signed.
    BEST of both worlds!!!
    :)
It would cost me more than 3-4 thousand a year in increased taxes and I would have to subsidize horrible state's property and income taxes - but the juice might actually be worth the squeeze........

    So do the savings.

The landlord gets to put new HVAC on a depreciation schedule, and amortize it over time, and sure, that may be figured in the next time the tenant's rent gets renegotiated.

But if the tenant pays utilities, those savings are right there the next month, and all the months after that.
