    When I posted this:

I was thinking of what happens when food-aid is terminated:
    • USA agriculture loses price supports, markets, and goes “Grapes of Wrath” broke.
    • More kids like these show up in Appalachia and rural parts.
It had not occurred to me that obesity concerns so many of our chatters. Time for a scientific thread about obesity, like we have for COVID, makes sense. A place to bring facts and data.

Nobody is talking about terminating food aid.
In fact....SNAP actually COULD be reimagined to help promote better NUTRITIONAL outcomes using REAL SCIENCE instead of the government using the liberal approach - generosity other people's money.

This doesn't have to be an episode of Stirewalt's Hillbillies in the Mist for you.
    You LIVE in Appalachia.

:ROFLMAO: One is left shacking their head, a one eyed supporter for the seriously obese president quoting numbers about children being obese and needing better dietary guidance ..... the porker isn't actually fading away while he starves others is he

The porker-in-chief is already NINE YEARS beyond the manufacturer's warranty.
Just like the one before him.
Sorta like a Frank Baum story 'eh?
One doesn't have a heart, while the other one doesn't have a brain.

You want to help FEED kids?
    REALLY FEED them?

    Fine.
In this part of America it looks a lot more like helping in a church pantry or maybe a school backpack lunch programme. (**)

As long as INDIVIDUAL states have to PASS AND ENFORCE laws that prevent parents using SNAP benefits to buy candy, energy drinks, and other nutritionally bereft foods - then I will continue to be extremely skeptical of the liberal approach to benevolence:
Writing a cheque with other people's money followed by a hearty round of self-congratulation.

Bonus Points to those who know WHY the candy and energy drinks are so popular.
MORE Extra credit if you can name one......JUST ONE way that retailers 'game' the SNAP system.

EVEN as 'fair and balanced' as AI is....THEY come up with some of the more COMMON ones... ;)
    Google Search

(**) Before some drive-by social worker comes at me with school lunch programmes or EHS funding, the better of THESE are already STATE FUNDED.
Some states do a more adequate job than others which means that the BETTER of these states are Ipso facto BETTER OFF without the federal government 'administrating' their efforts while taking a 10-20% cut of the STATES money before handing it back to them.
$cience is always waxing poetic about collecting and producing empirical results.
Maybe we should find some REAL SCIENTISTS and put them to work analyzing the data about how outcomes have been improved in education and child nutrition since....saaaay 1970.

Maybe ALSO leave educating and feeding kids to cities, counties, and states.
Take the 3 BEST and WORST of these and publish their methods.
Maybe even call it something REALLY COOL like........peer review or something. ;)
