I agree. I would suggest starting with the total US grid capacity, grid use, and EV electrical use. All are easily available and have been mentioned previously in this thread if you don't want to look elsewhere.

It looks like the thermal efficiency of the engine in the new Corolla and Gen 6 Prius will be around 50%, a huge improvement from the 41% of the current engine, bringing the EPA fuel economy to around 70 mpg.

With the Arene software platfom and TSS 4.0 and higher, which will have OTA updates, the current generation Toyotas will be outdated in a couple of years.

The new gasoline engines will also have a slightly higher thermal efficiency than the new diesel engines.

Gotta love those four-digit thermal-efficiency figures. Chinese excel at hyping things. The real question is, does it even work?

    & toyo never does that

how's that promised toyo solid state battery coming along?

how are those toyo promised 100s of thousands of hydrogen cars doing?

The real question is what are the emissions? Will it require the exhaust controls of a diesel in order to pass EPA? That will increase the price and maintenance.

    Nothing like particulate filters

Gas cars are getting particle filters in Europe. The dual port/direct injection of the Dynamic Force engines is a means of avoiding that. While cheaper than the exhaust filter, it is still an added cost over using just one injection type.

While not a major cost, adding fluid for a SCR system is a maintenance item most will not expect with a gas car.

Do the Toyota research papers mention particulate filters?

More complicated emission systems have become a thing with Japanese cars since the 1970s.
