Because these cars are so new I don't expect that many people have changed theirs tire yet, but I'm curious about the experience of those who have. I'm at 13,700 miles on my 2024 original tires. I've had 3 punctures. Thankfully none of them have resulted in a shredded tire or me/my family being stranded. Discount tire has 3 tires available in my area. Have you swapped tires? Which tire did you chose? How have they been so far? Have you had any flats? If you chose to change to the 16" rims how has that gone? I have the 2024 LE with the 195/60 R17 tires. We've had a good experience with the Maxlifes on our Gen4. So, that is likely what I'd get if I don't do the 16" rim.
Yep; caught three flats on the thin OEM tires. I replaced them with thicker n higher load rating tires, 80K mile wear-out warranty. I did suffer a few mpg penalty. I actually pulled a nail out on my last rotation - it didn't penetrate the new rubber. Running them all @40psi, so I don't have to readjust on rotations. Hope this helps.....
What did you switch to? 80k life sound like the Goodyears. I had Goodyear Maxlife's on our 2017 and was happy with them.
Crossclimate3's on 16" wheels. Center bore size of the wheel needs to be exactly or bigger than the center bore of the wheel hub on the car. I used aluminum OD 78.1mm to ID 60.1mm hubcentric rings for mine. No issues, no flats, traction is definitely better than factory tires (tested on some turns in wet conditions where factory wheel+tires at certain speeds would cause light traction loss on the rear (oversteer) but the CC3's did not in the same conditions. And since I don't make my personality about my mpg I don't really know what I was getting on my factory wheels but I still get fantastic mileage. As for road noise, negligible? I hear the wind around the car more than I hear road noise. Also I prioritized lighter weight wheels in my shopping. Something to consider if you're buying new wheels.
CROSS CLIMATE 2 205/55R17 on MSW TYPE 48 17x7.5 3% smaller circumference than stock wheels and tires so speedometer reads a couple miles per hour faster at highways speeds and odometer is 3% higher. 1/2" decreased ground clearance. Improvement in road noise levels and ride comfort. Better traction in wet and icy conditions. Many more options for tire replacement with MSW wheels.
CC3 or CC2? If CC3, how did you get them already? I didn't think they were available in North America yet.
Don't care much for Goodyear - they have weak sidewalls. Got a set on my GMC. Two of 4 had to be replaced due to road hazard. One was free and the other cost me $5. Armstrong, BF Goodrich, the General Altimax series are good tough tires that I get decent all season grip with longevity. Don't know if they have them in your size.
Yeah, comparing to the stock 19" size. Oddly, the stock 17" size is markedly smaller OD, and your choice isn't that different:
