Good day everyone. So yesterday I noticed that the backup camera on my 2014 was not longer activating when placing the car in reverse. The camera was installed by the dealer when I purchased the car new in 2014. This is an entry level and that year didnt come oem with a camera. I have read a few articles about this but no clear direction on what to troubleshoot or how to fix the issue. Thoughts?
Mine stopped working a few months ago so I did some research online and was able to successfully replace it and it works great! All of the work to replace this happens in the back hatch. First thing you need to do is remove the molding on the inside of your hatch so you can access the wiring for your camera. Carefully inspect the wire connections because you will need to find a camera online that has the same wire connectors (this is key!). My replacement camera was only $25 online with wiring. Installation was pretty easy - maybe about an hour total. I did need to do some customization to the little mounting bracket on mine because the original camera installer actually had broken the plastic snaps and secured it with some sort of adhesive. There are videos on YouTube that show you how to do this replacement.
Thank you for the guidance. Was your camera experiencing the same outcomes where the headunit worked great but nothing would change when placed in reverse (as it typically did with the camera feed coming on)? Also, do you have a link to the camera you purchased or part number?
