Hello all. Is possible to disable the unlock button on the key fob so that car doesn't open. I know about the button (SKS) under the steering wheel, but that just deactivates the function of bringing the key close to the car to unlock the doors, and being able to start the car without pluging the key in. But I'm still able to unlock/lock the car by pressing unlock/lock on the key fob. I'm trying to deactivate the function where the key fob can unlock/lock the car totally for any key fob, mine or a clone. I understand I will probably have to get a new cylinder/physical key for the door as well.

    Thank you,
    Eric

No I don't think that's possible that person now has access . Until somebody comes with transponder computer behind the heater HVAC box . Locksmith or vvdi key tool . Etc . The system would need to be reprogrammed or cloned to different number than what's on your remote I do believe.

How do you know the person with the remote knows what car it goes to?

At this point I don't, but the cars registration was stolen, so they can take that document, make a fake ID with my name and their picture on it and get a key fob for the car. So trying to disable the thing in the car that talks to the key fob from getting access into the car. not sure if disabling that will keep the car from running though.

If you mean that someone stole a working key fob, then you need to take your car to a capable locksmith or the dealer and have them erase the stolen fob from the ecu. Then get the lock cylinder replaced.

Using Techstream or any similarly-capable scan tool, there are fob registration procedures available, as long as you have access to one fob that is already registered and works.

One of those procedures is "forget all registered fobs but this one". (If you have more than one fob on hand, you can just pick one of them, do "forget all fobs but this one", then re-register the other one).

Keep in mind that each fob has both its remote functions (dependent on its battery) and its up-close, RFID function (recognized when inserted in the dash slot, not needing the fob battery). Registering and unregistering the remote ID and the RFID are separate operations, and if I remember Techstream right (haven't done one in a while) you find them on totally different menus.

If you don't have access to even one registered fob that works, then the more advanced procedures of a locksmith, or ECU reseeding / replacement, are needed.
