Other possibility, did you have it in a shop and get could have somehow screwed up your hood? Oil change guy tried slamming it down with something on top of the engine? Whacked it into it while the hood was propped up lifted it into the ceiling?

But it often cracks upon impact. If it was a soft enough hit to only bend in the plastic, and not damage the paint, it most likely wouldn't have deformed the metal superstructure.

Like I said earlier in this thread, this literally happened on my Hyundai. The plastic bumper appeared undamaged but the metal beneath was bent.

I just bought a used 1 owner 2018 Prius IV that has the exact same issue.... did you find a solution? It looks like the hood latch simply needs to be loosened and slid "down" about 1/4 in and retightened.... any thoughts?

    I thought the same.

IIRC, when I looked at the hood latch adjustment, mine was as low as it could go. There is a support beam directly underneath it, and it seemed that further adjustment would have to come from the base of that if possible.

Bump! Anyone ever find a solution to this? I’m having the same issue now on my 2019. I seriously doubt I would’ve missed it when we bought it a couple years ago. I think what’s happening is that because the car is so low, every time exiting somewhere with a dip, the bumper scraps and is knocking itself out of position. If nobody got a true solution, I’ll probably take the latch off and round the holes slightly so I can lower where it latches.

Were you able to fix this? I'm looking at a 2019, and I love it, but I noticed the hood. Now I'm a little scared of purchasing it.

More than likely, the car's been in an accident and reassembled sloppily. If your serious about this car, take it to a mechanic/body shop for an evaluation. Carfax isn't going to know it's been an accident, unless it was reported to the proper authorities or an insurance payout for repairs was done. ie. rental car companies are self-insured and will fix cars on their own dime; so nothing ever gets reported or a shade-tree mechanic did the repair in their back yard as a side gig.

    Good Luck......

Those cars was manufactured and assembled in Japan and wouldn't have passed their QC. It may have pass an American plant QC; but I doubt it.
