I went to the dealer and told them my brake is loose. They never want to do anything and always say it’s normal on new cars. Even though I hear some weird noises in the car, they keep sending me back. I hate them — they never want to do anything.

Anyway, I realized every time I press the brake, I can hear the brake actuator or wherever that noise is coming from. It’s very silent on this generation — they did a good job making that noise hidden. But I believe it should not come every time I press the brake. I don’t want it to wear out quickly. I guessed there was air in my brake line.

It’s not difficult — Techstream tells you what you need to do step by step. It’s best if you have one more person with you. I was alone, and some steps you need to do two things at the same time.

After I was done, I drove the car for about 5 minutes. It’s way better now, not loose like before. I also saw some air coming out from the pipe when I was bleeding. So there was definitely air inside, but not anymore.

BUT I can still hear that very silent brake actuator noise every time I press the brake. I need to drive more to analyze, but so far in that 5 minutes, I can still hear it.

The reason I am sharing this is because I want to ask if you can also hear that brake actuator noise every time you brake? It doesn’t matter if you brake just to slow down a little bit, or brake fully. That sound is not loud at all — you need to close your windows to hear it. I want to know if your car is the same.

ChatGPT helped me do all the preparation before Techstream.

You're asking in the gen 5 forum. Earlier generations had a pressure accumulator that would get pumped up periodically, and the brakes would use fluid from there, and when necessary it would get pumped up again.

Judging from this post I made in July:

it may be that gen 5 has done away with the accumulator, and simply pumps whenever you brake. That would mean you should be careful not to get too caught up in "how often should it pump?" questions that pertain to earlier Prius generations.

My July post doesn't include a source where I saw that change for gen 5, but I must have thought I'd seen it somewhere. The New Car Features manual would be a likely place to check.

So ı had a 07 prius and brake actuator did not work eveytime I brake. It was loud. Now I have 23 prius, its silent but works everytime I brake. Yes, there are lots of difference between those car, but I still want to make sure everybody's the same. I was thinking it is very often because there is air in my brake. I am glad I got rid of that air today. But it wasn't related to that. As you said, I am thinking its normal on all 5 gen prius. As long as those actuator has long life, its fine.
