    Hello,
I’m curious about the hybrid battery in my 2001 Prius Model III. How long do these batteries typically last, and are there any early signs of failing I should look for? I’m considering a battery check soon and would love advice from people who’ve been through it.

Not all the features of the Dr. Prius app. are available for Gen 1, but as I recall it can be used to run a battery test. The car will set diagnostic codes (like the dreaded P3006) when it's time to replace or repair.

OEM Toyota batteries last 10+ years, there may still be some running in cars on the road today. After market batteries, made from used modules, tend only to last as long as their warranties, 1 to 3 years, perhaps longer if you're lucky. Some folks have had luck replacing individual modules, but this oftentimes turns into a game of wack-a-mole.
