    If there's a current P0420, the car seems to think it has already approached its threshold.

    Anyway of cleaning a catalytic converter from its toxic chemicals that are bound to it?

    Cataclean and there are a few others that folks have said worked . Personally I've not used . I don't have emissions. Some people on other lists with Toyotas that aren't Prius swear by it

    The only thing I've seen written about with any indication of actual promise was taking the thing off and circulating a heated citric and oxalic acid solution through it for a period of time.

    I haven't seen any report of someone trying that on a Prius; would be interested to see how to set it up, given the converter is part of a whole long pipe assembly with a heat exchanger and other stuff.

    Cut it off, clean and reweld? Sounds like a lot of work for a long shot though.

    come to think of it, that’s how the aftermarket catalytic converters are installed, is it not?

    just for info, what’s the miles on it?
