Hence the trend to fixed sunroofs.

'caused by an external factor'. are they suggesting a tree fell on it and left no evidence?
sounds to me like toyota doesn't want to admit that they screw up occasionally

That's one reason a car with a sunroof is a deal breaker for me.

Hence, the trend for avoiding sunroofs. Tesla Model S did away with it the year after we got one in 2017. It's an expense looking for a place to happen. The better ½ wanted one available at the dealership when we purchased in 2018 in her Pacifica minivan. I won that battle, one of the few. The point being as few a times as many people open them up, what's the point? Other than to enrich the Stealerships' service centers once they go south.

Friend's 2005 had the plastic tracks of the sunroof break, they weren't available separately. So sunroof kept shut.

I totally agree. Sometimes though, you're kind of 'forced' to get a sunroof because you want leather, a premium sound system or whatever. I find they usually take up headroom, though my MINI did not.

that's exactly right. toyota forced the sunroof on us in 3 hycams to get other things we wanted.
some mfg's have it as a separate option. we never opened any of them over 18 years
