The Sideliners aren't truly independent. About half lean Dem or Rep. Chasing those leaners runs the risk of alienating the OL. Population wise, they are about the same size, with Sideliners less likely to vote. Then going by Bernie's 2016 primary run, a democratic socialist may not be that scary to lefty Sideliners.
