Maybe this is a ruse to get people to lose weight?

You'd be surprised how many people secretly eat pet food.

Surprisingly, some varieties are more nutritious and healthier than people food.

People food is basically made for taste before substance.

    Taste sells. Bland does not.

That's why the label states "Not fit for human consumption", they don't undergo testing for bacterium that would make us sick or kill us. That's if you believe the marketing behind those foods; but at least you'll have nice hair...

That's only to protect the makers from being sued.

Pet food is made on the same processing line and uses the same methods as human food.

Uhhh; OK - Just don't be within ear-shot of the local health inspector, when you say that. That shouldn't be an issue in an animal food processing processing plant, because I don't believe there are local, state, or federal mandatory regulations governing them. I could be wrong but I know, some plants VOLUNTARY submit to inspections.

If the pet food is made the same as human, why are there deadly incidents ... ...oh, what would you call it...with some pet food killing dogs.

Of course there is the controversial pet food from China.

Mechanically separated meat, gristle and parts of cows and chicken previously used as pet food now is used as chicken nuggets and fast food hamburgers. T h e same goes for hotdogs.

The only difference is legal liability.

Evidence is provided by why there are so many recalls for contami n aged food products.

Todays breakfast, no more than 2 bucks a plate I'd wager.

Uhh; that's a $10-$15 each plate at Denny's on their morning breakfast special.;) Nicely balanced food pyramid; w/o coffee or tip....

I must've missed those pet food recalls; but I do remember some from the past. It's not like the weekly or monthly ones we get for human food.
Thanks for the picture. I could imagine a food canning plant where the canned food line splits into two at the can labeling area. One line label states generic chili, the other is a premium dog food label. Who would pay more money for generic canned dog food?:(:rolleyes:o_O:X3::whistle::X3::censored:

I'd suspect Denny's breakfast would be a little less satisfying, to put it politely. And hey, it's a restaurant?

    Whew! About $2.50 USD:

Economy of scale goes a long way.

It's hard to make a $3 meal. But it's relatively easy to make four for $12. The key ingredient is prep time. Quite a few people who are low on $ also don't have the time to prep meals in bulk with short-term storage for reheat- it's a real trap.

LoL; I really wouldn't call it a restaurant either. It's the only place still serving at 0100-0300 in the wee hours of the morning, when you've got the munchies. o_O:rolleyes::ROFLMAO::LOL::whistle:

I believe I've been there exactly once in the past 15 years. Much more in my younger years.... Just pulled the 0.49 cent refill CocaCola mug; out of my cabinet. That offer expired 09/30/1994. Didn't realized that I've had that for so long......

next time I'm at the supermarket, I'm going to add up lettuce, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, croutons, dressing and some protein to try and figure the cost of one meal.

Canned pet food is still canned food. Not much chance of bacteria in that. Other sorts of contaminants (chemicals, glass or metal fragments) can occur.

Dried pet food is weird stuff. I don't eat anything like that. The closest common human food would be freeze dried food. But the animal products like kibble don't require that water be added before consumption, so they probably have more water in them, albeit, not a whole lot overall. That stuff tends to be really dry to the touch. My son's dog always slurps down a pretty large amount of water after a kibble meal.
