Yup, Toyota's Next EV will be the 2027 Highlander

    Everybody kind of thought the Highlander would go this way, since the Grand Highlander outsold it last year by 136,801 to 56,208. In fact the Grand Highlander Hybrid outsold both Highlander gas and hybrid variations by some 13,000+ units. All signs point to the Highlander being a BEV only. Specifics were supposed to be released today but it looks like it'll get the big reveal about 10:00PM tonight (maybe). No indication whether the Highlander BEV will still be manufactured in Indiana or go to Japan where most BEVs and Plug-in Hybrids are made. I thought this was going to be the 1st North American made BEV with batteries sourced from their new North Carolina plant.

    Comes with either a 77.0 kWh battery or 95.8 kWh battery. All FWD models come with the 77 kWh battery.

    At 198.8 inches in length, it is almost 4 inches longer, same width as the Grand Highlander, but height is .8 inches less than the 2026 Highlander. Cargo room is about the same as the 2026 Highlander. Same motors as used in the current bZ and C-HR.

    I'm pretty sure it's going to disappoint and be sold at a major discount on the used market, just like the bZ - especially now that federal incentives are gone.
    I live in the land of BEVs. A certified used bZ with <25K miles, no accidents is around $20K or lower. They MSRP in the high $40K to low $50K less than two years ago. That's a hefty depreciation WACK!! If I was in the market, I'd buy certified used.
    Don't know about all the kids screaming in the back and having to stop every 300 miles to recharge. Won't that be prolonging the torture?

    You mean with a frontend that looks like every other new Toyota and some Hondas? That is pure BS, IMO.

    I hope for a day when SOMEBODY comes to their senses, produce a dash with 80's style, heat/vent controls you can actually use, without heading off-road or into oncoming traffic. Not holding my breath though.

    Driving in fog with the inside s of glass also fogging up, nearly hit an oncoming car yesterday because of fiddling with the "modern" climate control

    Yeah there's one spot that always happens to us, rolling down a steep hill to a highway along the shore, temp goes down, humidity goes up, windows fog. And it's a twisty highway, so much fun, especially at night. Our gen 3 is near-impossible to safely adjust.

    I've a hunch why they've done thi$, put fan speed and cabin temp on +- buttons, and a single effing button for all the vent modes, that you've gotta scroll through (once you locate the damn thing...), and it's now for the owner's benefit. This is with vestige buttons, then there's the touch screens, takes it to the stupid level.

    I mean, the temperature button is there along with a wide front defroster button. I'll concede that it would be better if there were raised dots on them.

    But GM and Ford are cancelling the BEV productions. Toyota may catch up... some day. lol

    I pre-ordered SLATE truck. But now it can't deliver before $20K as advertised. I am canceling my order. That's why I want Toyota Hilux BEV to come here.

    If & when it's ever built, it's alleged to only be going to Thailand & the EU ..... only. Thanks a lot for that - Toyota.
    We have a deposit on the 150-ish ev miles plug in Ram pickup. Good news it's supposed to be here in just a few more months. Bad news is it's a Stelantis product, now days.

    If we are talking BEVs here; IMHO - that should be an option on the departure time scheduler. The glass should be clear by the time you hit the door; if plugged-in.

    I'm not too cheap to fire the ICE to clear the glass of fog. I try not to drive when the glass is fogged up; but sometimes I do. One time I almost hit this stupid kid crossing the road wearing all black at 0400. He could've crossed under a street lamp less than 50 yards away - but he decided to cross away from the lamps and behind a blind corner of the road. I almost Darwin-ed him.....

    Rather than fire up the ice if we are just a couple blocks or less from home, we'll just crack the windows (all 4) for the last few hundred yards. Sure, it may be in the 20s - but it keeps ya rough & tough.

    Between 4th Gen Prius and the 2025 Camry they got even more crazy. On the Prius with Auto HVAC you could see the fan speeds and venting used. They hide that on the Camry. GRRR.
