Ignition Coils and Spark Plugs

    Hi experts,
    My car is giving me P0301 at 180K miles, so thinking of changing all the Ignition coils and spark plugs. Instead of buying OEM parts which 4x, can I by one of these?
    What is your opinion on this, please share so I take a decision with some confidence. In this community, few recommended to go for Denso but that is same price as OEM.

    If you know how to diagnose and isolate issues with your car; you can put anything you want as replacement parts. With proper testing, you should be able to determine if you've got a bad part or there's something else wrong with your car.
    If your just firing a parts cannon at the car, hoping that's going to take care of your issues - You many be introducing new issues into your car through counterfeit parts that may or may not meet OEM specifications. An OEM part is more likely to meet specifications and not be a dud; though some bad ones do make it through.

    It's your car and your money.

    Sounds like you should be buying OEM parts.

    You move the coil and spark plug in the questionable cylinder into one or more of the other working cylinders. If the problem moves, that's the bad component. If the problem stays put, you could have a fuel and/or compression issue in cylinder #1.

    There's plenty of YouTube video on this. Also watch one on how to diagnose cylinder burn, by looking at the spark plug tips, when you remove them.

    ^ I would definitely try this first. P0301 indicates cylinder one misfire. If you swap coils and plugs between say cylinders one and four, and the code persists, then that’s not the problem.

    with your miles that code is near-invariably due to head gasket failure.

    has the EGR system ever been cleaned?

    I understand that, but 98% of the people here won't do proper testing and point a parts cannon at the car anyways.
    You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.......

    I was working on a FREE jetski the other day and couldn't find my compression tester. I went down the street to borrow one from O'riley's. It was busted and someone removed the one-way valve within. They were less than a mile away, so no big deal. That's the difference between knowing what your doing and pointing a parts cannon at something..:(
