I took a long uber ride in a Kia EV6 today. First time I'd been in one.

Man, that back seat is not comfortable. Just no thigh support and the floor is so high, with no footroom. Pretty rude after 2 hours in a coach airline seat.

The rest of the car seemed nice, but I'm really looking forward to designs where they can put the battery somewhere other than under the floor.

Yesterday I saw a Chevrolet SSR pickup.

There are a few around town so that isn't a terribly rare sighting, but this is the first time I've seen one in truly decrepit condition. I don't think it was deliberately "ratted" but still looked like it had been stored in a lake for a while.

Kia EV4. First one in the while. The front looks fine.... the rear.... needs work lol.

:( But yeah the floor is high relative to the seat bottom. No questions about that. Just hope the front seat was far enough for you to stretch out as really, the legroom is the only saving grace.

    Yup haha.

Yeah that made the difference between "discomfort" and "misery" as far as my tall self is concerned.

I noticed that there was remarkably little toe-room under that front seat. Not like 2000s floor pans where there was room for a navigation computer or a subwoofer.

Yes. That is a problem. And I think it's partly due to the high floor and low ceiling. A shorter driver would raise the seat a bit and give some wiggle room but if I'm driving, the seat's on the floor. Something like a bZ with a more traditional shape will afford more interior height.

I'm hoping it isn't too long before battery energy density gets to the point where they can just do a "tunnel" like classic FR layout cars, and then have the battery occupy that space + wherever the gas tank would've been.

Then the floor can drop back down to where it was.

Many of us over 6 ft will be more than happy NOT seeing the consideration of how far people can stoop down to get in a vehicle

Semi solid state should help or even just LFP without having to resort to (currently expensive) solid state batteries. It'll come. Remember how the Prius progressed from the original to classic to iconic to now?

The gen2 Volt was @50 miles EV range with that T-shaped pack in the tunnel and under the rear seat. We are coming on 10 years since it debuted.

Flat packs might be easier to manufacturer, with its case being incorporated into the cars structure. Sure there are trade offs either way.

Stuffing cells into whatever available space of the car's frame will help alot with cabin space, but is a big step towards cars being disposable products.

The Prius's big battery leap came with the switch to Li-ion. NiMH required a lot of dead space and weight for long life.

Being cheaper and safer is LFP's appeal, but it has lower energy density. The LFP in a standard range Model 3 is roughly the same size as the Li-ion pack in the long range model.

Back to the spotting. A Saab 9.3 Aero. And it was a wagon.

    Did you?
They say there are more replica
F 40s running around the landscape then there were actual f40s (of which Ferrari made roughly 1,000)
The Pontiac Fiero was the typical cheap car used to slap the Poser body onto - as it had the right dimensions. Other cars were used sometimes - but did they look the same? Not so much.
Here's one of the many posers on a Fiero

Sure beats Paying some 3 million for a used car

Cobras & 64½ mustangs too. But yeah one of the Disney machinists built a cobra - ground up. What a beast.

There’s only two around here and my friend saw the same one up close when they were parked at a cove. So there’s more evidence leaning towards real?

That photo you linked does look very convincing as a fake.
