Ah yes rape seed oil. Gee I wonder why they don't call it rapeseed oil instead of canola unprocessed rapeseed oil from traditional high-erucic varieties can be harmful — often contains over 40% erucic acid, which in animal studies cause fat buildup in the heart muscle. Yeah that's what I want. So mankind does what mankind does best . Monkey with genetics - they bred low-erucic strains for food use, now under 0.5% in most commercial rapeseed oil. That's partly why all the health food nuts have switched to more organic types of oil. .
Modern diesels allow no more than a 5% blend in the winter time - as it will clog filters injectors (wax up) & void the warranty
In the right blend, B20 will work in below freezing temps. Only Ford and GM of the car makers says it is okay to use B20 in their half ton trucks and cars though. Going above that in a Ram or Jeep calls for shorter maintenance intervals. European brands say no higher than B5. Renewable diesel, or hydrocracked vegetable oil(HVO) is made from the same feedstocks as biodiesel, yet doesn't have the drawbacks as it is closer to diesel chemically.
