How are you reading your fuel economy in miles per gallon if you live in europe?

Settable in dash meter. I'd chime in that maybe that's Imperial gallons, so bigger than US gallons? I'm in over my head here though.

The US gallon is about the size of the Liter. The Imperial gallon is about 20% larger.

Aye, imperial gallons in the UK.

    He’s talking US gallons?

Canadian dealership ads used to love to resurrect miles per “gallon”, even though the pumps have been liters for decades. Maybe still do. Somewhere down in the very fine print they disclose it’s imperial gallons, sometimes…

Location has them in the UK. There, and the rest of Europe, still report and fuel economy in a blended format of plug and hybrid. That's what the triple figure mpg is. There could be a conversion error in there, or their route is just good for fuel efficiency.

Appreciate that, but he says "gallons US".

Units aside, a visit to Fuelly website would answer the question.

He did, but could have made an error in converting to that. Your post was phrased as question:).Does a UK Prius use imperial or standard when displaying gallons?

My post's main point was on the use of EV miles for calculating PHEV fuel economy figures in Europe. That's why the 168mpg figure is inflated.

I meant the US gallon is about 4 liters. Sorry.
