wow! we have xfinity at $95./mo. 1,000mbps for streaming. dropped cable and the cable phone to save $200./mo., and picked up fubo for the channels mrs b wants.
changing channels is a pain, but worth the savings.
two cell phones @ $25,/mo. each, unlimited data. have to get used to using them though.

I see people who can't stop being pulled into their cell phones so distracted that they walk into people or pulling one out to check information. It can leave people with a fractured focus; I'm not sure that learning to use them is an unalloyed good.

The whole world is much safer at 25mph.

When everything is too far apart and you decide it's important that you should get there in less time, you create problems for everyone, including yourself.

agreed, there's a time and place for everything, but phone usage is unavoidable these days.

Its been illegal in most parts of Texas for years. You have to at least have bluetooth through the car or some people use phone holders if they need maps.

Holding the phone isn't. Having a distracted mind is.

Yeah, there is no plan under $60/mo here. I guess if I can prove I don't make enough money the government will subsidize my internet bill.

The cheapest internet option that I'm seeing is Starlink with the $10/mo slow internet option. I might just try that. I did get a free Starlink Mini, so I might as well as sign up for a plan and use it.

My understanding is the starlink $10 a month has no high speed access and is for emergency messaging.

Around here TMobile and Verizon have wireless home internet without restrictions for less than $50 a month all in. Visible by Verizon is $30 a month ($25 month all in if paid annually), uses Verizon 5G or LTE for 200 mbs downloads with 5 mbs-20 mbs uploads.

I use fiber for internet but Visible for the phone. This is Visible in my house in a rural area with wifi turned off. IMG_1473.jpeg

When working on our cars, I turn into a Physician...."Do no harm"....so I know my boundaries and don't push it or risk it!

My daughter is going on a few thousand mile road trip next weekend so I had her bring Tinker over to the house so I could check her out for her. (Tinker is our light-green 2017 Prius my wife gave her when she got her 2024 Corolla Hyrid...my wife named her after Tinker Bell from Peter Pan)

Anyway, I just changed her oil 2-months ago and it's still clear after about 500 miles. I changed out the air and cabin filters (they were due) and noticed I hadn't cleaned out her throttle body and MAF sensor in 5-years.

So took off the air intake hose from the throttle body and got all that cleaned out. (Hardly anything to clean, actually.)

BUT when I went to reattach that hose, MAN was that tight....had the hardest time getting it to slide up in there. I remembered there's something mechanics can lube the rubber hoses with to help them attach but I couldn't remember....and didn't want to "do harm" so didn't use anything.

Asked a buddy at work.....dielectric grease works best...just a little coat helps it slip right on....now I know! (I had some, too, in my garage!)

Anyway, check your spare tires, folks....her 60 psi donut only had around 30 psi so I'm glad I checked it out for her.

Just what I was going to say. You can just barely touch your fingertip to the tube and slide it around the hose fitting, barely able to even see you put any there. Makes an amazing difference.

I'm too lazy to keep digging all the way down under the hatch deck and cargo tray to check it, so I prefer having it keep itself at 60 psi (and also give me air I can use):

The compressor, of course, ends up running briefly at odd random moments, making passengers say "what's that sound?".

Yeah the donut in her trunk is the same...you have to unscrew it and remove it to just get to the inflator valve! So dumb!!
