    I want to use OEM front and rear pads. Toyota shows several part numbers for them. What are the differences and which ones are recommended?

    What’s your location? If dealerships nearby just let the parts guy sort it?

    I don't know where those part numbers are from. I got your 2012 part numbers from my local Toyota dealer, parts.longotoyota.com

    In Toyota’s Brake Pads application chart (PDF) from last year, the part numbers for Prius cars are listed at the bottom of page 3. Toyota dealers in the U.S. sell two grades of brake pads: OEM equivalent, listed as “Current Kit” in the chart; and TCMC (“Toyota Complete Maintenance Care”), at lower cost.

    The part numbers @JC91006 kindly mentioned are those of the OEM equivalent front and rear brake pad kits, list prices $104.50 and $59.04, respectively. The TCMC front brake pad kit is 04465-AZ123, list price $58.00, and the chart doesn’t list a TCMC rear brake pad kit for 2012 Prius cars.
    Part number 04466-AZ213 is a TCMC rear brake pad kit. The parts.toyota.com website says it fits third- and fourth-generation Prius models, among many others, but that site is maintained for Toyota by a third party and may not be a reliable source. I’d suggest asking your dealer to check the latest Toyota bulletins to confirm the application.

    Part number 04466-47101 is an OEM equivalent rear brake pad kit for late third- and early fourth-generation Prius cars; I don’t believe it would be used on a 2012 model.

    For anyone else who has this question:
    The Toyota site lists all the parts numbers, evidently including historical ones that have been superseded.
    parts.toyota.com/a/Toyota_2010_Prius-Hatchback/_72760_7171713/Pads/maintenance_Pads.html

    My Prius has 05/2009 manufacture date, which was tricky to figure out. It was originally 47020, but replaced with 76012:
    PAD KIT, DISC BRAKE, REAR 046647020
    (See 0446676012): From 200904 to 201009.
    000008 0022 0; ZVW30; MARK AK NS254;
    (See 0446676012): From 200912 to 201009.
    000001 0006 0; ZVW35; MARK AK NS254;

    Naturally they didn't bother to list my manufacture date under the 76012 fitments!
    Funny thing is that there appear to be overlaps between the 76012 and 47080 pads:
    • Disc Brake Pad Set (Rear) 0446647080
      From 201111 to 201112.
      From 201112 to 201207.
      000008 0114 0; 000008 0; ZVW30; MARK AK NS254;
      From 201201 to 201206.
      000001 0; ZVW35; MARK AK NS254;

      (Current price) $59.07

    Anybody have the magic decoder ring on what's in there besides manufacture dates?

    I, too, have the question what is the difference between the 3 rear pad numbers?

    All 3G Prius use the same front brake pads.

    I believe there are 3 part numbers for OEM rear brake pads listed (not including TCMC):

    04466-76012: 2010-2011 Prius (possibly including early 2012)
    04466-47080: 2012-2013 Prius (possibly incl. late 2011 and early 2014)
    04466-47101: 2014-2015 Prius (possibly incl late 2013)

    Technically, these will fit all 3G Prius, regardless of model year.

    Using the information I researched for shock absorber changes and part numbers, these different model production ranges for these pads coincides with the different shock absorber changes for the model years. I'm guessing maybe it's different pad compounds that affect brake balance based on the shocks' valving? I'd think the different shock tuning would NOT solicit different pads, but you never know.

    FYI, All 3G Prius use the same front springs, incl Plug-in, and all 3G Prius use the same rear springs, except Plug-in, which uses different rear springs for 2012-13, and 2014-15, and the shocks vary with the model years the same as the brake p/ns

    There is a TSB from 2012/13 that states 04466-47080 is the replacement pad for 2010-2011 and early 2012 Prius that exhibit uneven pad wear. However, this TSB part # was released before 04466-76012 became available. So possibly 04466-76012 addressed this issue.

    Just take your vin number to Toyota and they will give you the correct pads...

    That doesn't explain the DIFFERENCE between the model years' pads...

    We're having the same issue with a 2013 prius. It looks like both the 04466-47101 and 04466-47080 are included as an exact match on the Toyota Auto Parts website. I told my dealer our VIN number and the only thing that came up for them was the AZ pads (04466-AZ213), so it seems they only carry economy pads. Any insight on which OEM (non economy) pads to go with or any updates since this thread was more active?

    As far as I can tell, there's a Memorial Day sale on at autoparts.toyota.com: free shipping and 15% additionally off the selling price from the dealer you select.

    It looks like you have to create an account and sign in at autoparts.toyota.com, and then choose one of the dealers that website shows you. In a plain web search, I see lots of Toyota dealers that will sell these pads online at a discount. But so far, among the dealers I can check from autoparts.toyota.com, it looks like they all are showing MSRP. They also don't show the "additional discount applied at checkout" notation.

    So far, using the dealer search at that site, I don't find any of the dealers I can find with a general web search offering the pads at discount. The Memorial Day sale fine print says "Only valid at participating Toyota Parts Center Online (TPCO) dealers ....".

    So what's the story? You can get pads at the "participating TPCO" dealers, but only for full price? Or you can get them at other, non-participating dealers, at whatever usual discount those dealers offer?

    I often use https://parts.worldtoyota.com/. Right now they have 15% off, but not sure it's on all parts. This is a bit strange as it says "qualifying orders"? But they seem to run a sale every holiday. So July 4th they'll have another one. I usually buy when their sales get to 25% off. This discount is on top of the discounted MSRP prices they normally quote.

    Their service is a bit slow, usually will ship after a week. If you need it in a hurry, you can buy at Tuscaloosa Toyota, which has the same setup (probably same owner). These guys are much faster at shipping out their orders

    Weird. I fill out the cart, and there's a list price, then Dealer Savings, and then a MAYNATLPROMO26 discount, but it's only 10% of the price-after-dealer-savings, not 15%.

    I just went ahead and placed the order that way. I've already spent too much of a day just to order six parts....
