Have 30,000 miles on my 2023 Prius XLE and starting to look for tires for the near future. Perhaps get a bargain price and store them in my garage but many places do not stock this size or Toyota has the market on them due to this unique size of 195 50 19. The local Toyota Dealer has a "sale" where you purchase 3 and get the 4th for $1.00 but then they add installation, wheel balance, and whatever other fees. Perhaps in a few months there will be another sale where you buy all four and they throw in free installation and wheel balance. It all comes out the same. The price per tire for the Buy 3 get the 4th for a dollars is $295.

Looking elsewhere, if they have them are the Toyo fires with a 75,000 mile warranty for $179 per tire and the Michelin Primacy with a 45,000 mile warranty for $265 which doesn't make sense to me. Also which is the better tire?

I would not even consider changing the wheel size to lower the price as some have suggested or done in earlier threads.

You will need to provide an exact model of each tire if you want a comparison. I've had both Toyo's and Michelin's in the past and each brand has it's strengths and weaknesses and so do the particular models. You don't say where you are and what type of driving you do or exactly what you are looking for from a tire other than cost. Buy the cheapest tire if that's what you find most important.

What did you find the strengths and weaknesses of both Toyo and Michelins?

Michelins tend to be more expensive

Michelin is releasing the CrossClimate 2 in 195/50R19 in November. Great news for those of us that would rather run a top all-weather tire.

Not for us hypermilers who prefer low-rolling-resistance OEM tires. LOL. Apparently, the BEV range can drop by up to 10% with them. I still get 40 miles of BEV range in the city in my 2021 Prius Prime Limited PHEV with Dunlop Enasave 01 A/S 91S tires.

Interesting, I was not aware, thought it was not happening. This would have been a factor weighing for keeping my 2023 Prius Prime XSE. Not a deciding factor, though, because I had already made the decision to trade it in for a 2026 Rav4 PHEV. For a bunch of reasons, including lack of tire size. I don't think this would have changed my decision, might have made it a bit harder. I do agree, great news for owners of the odd tire size Prius.

It surprised the heck out of me, too. I just stumbled across the info when I went to Discount Tire's website. I'm not surprised the tire isn't listed on Michelin's website, but I am surprised it's not on Tire Rack's website(where I normally get quick info) since they're owned by Discount Tire. It shocks me a little that they bother to keep two different software systems when their markets have so much overlap.

Discount Tire has the CC2 (Nov availability) and the Toyo Observe GSI-6HP(a winter tire) listed, while Tire Rack shows the new X-Ice Snow+ that's replacing the current X-Ice Snow.

(The CC2 is not listed in 195/60R17 for the 17" wheels. Don't know if that will change by this fall or not.)

I have Michelin Primacy in my Crown Platinum. I like them, quiet tires. I believe XSE Premium has them also. The Toyos in my Prime XSE are absolute shit. They are loud, poor in rain/snow, and short thread life. I decided that I will replace them with Michelins.

I believe the tire you get is random and not based on trim. My LTD came with Toyos, but I've heard of other LTD owners that got Michelins. Luck of the draw, or whichever supply truck showed up to the assembly plant that week.
