Occurs to me, it's almost 10 years this thread's been in existence.

When something untoward happens, it can be alarming. When it happens regularly, complacency sets in. Anyway, slow=as-molasses this morning, and came to full halt once, with notice, something about site being insecure, possibly being under attack. Just another day on Priuschat.

I use a system called UptimeMonitor to notify me when my web server is down (or operating too slow) so it can be done.

Something I haven’t seen in years but my up to date iOS devices on this and one other site get pop over, up down, all around adds that are unavoidable and in some cases require me to close the tab (fake mcaffee full screen your iPhone infected nonsense)

not sure what changed but after a recent iOS update I’ve been getting a lot more full screen scam adds than I’ve seen in many years. This site was more or less innocuous until maybe a month ago.

 

Had to look up full screen scam add because I didn't know what they were.....
Never see 'em on my old-school iPhone-13 work or personal.

 

They are advertising ads, not adds. I see half screen pop downs on this site quite a bit using the latest iphone and os.

The biggest issue remains poor refresh of the site under ios, introduced quite some time ago after a major Priuschat crash. This impacts edits and recent activity updates the worst.

 

Here is an almost example but the fake mcaffee is true full screen with no exit.

it is not an “ad” but an actual scam in that it’s saying you have 18 viruses and wants to rip you off, not an actual mcaffee product or service.

 

Yeah, a single edit to a post goes ok, but any further edits, if you don’t reload the edit page, you’re saving OLD edits, overwriting previous edit. And when you save the edit, your post can be “gone”, until you reload the thread page.

so much fun, and no acknowledgment from Danny. For a newcomer to the site with an Apple phone (or computer?), it’s a mine field.

no ads for me, but only because of ad blocker, I’d assume they’re nigh intolerable now.
