I want to replace the door frame seals as well as I also want to reseal the trunk and the engine compartment on my 2011 Toyota Prius - any recommendations?

    Thanks

My door frame weatherstrips still seem to be ok. I have made a point of greasing them with Shin-Etsu grease now and then, or a bit of 303 protectant. I should go do that again, in fact.

I did ➡replace three door belt moldings⬅ recently. It was easy.

The door frame weatherstrips for any Prius year 2010–2015 liftback ought to fit, as far as I know, though to be most sure I would certainly enter my correct year.

You get them the same place I got belt moldings, a Toyota dealer. Many of them offer online discounts. I also purchased during the Memorial Day sale. There may be another sale coming up in, like, July.

Is that an amazon link, by any chance?

Those appear as blank space to anybody who views PriusChat with (like me) certain browser security settings.

Happens because PriusChat recognizes anything you enter that looks like an amazon link, and turns it into a fancy media embed.

You can circumvent that by posting a link you construct yourself, using the link icon or the ... construct.

Edit: I see you had already fixed it before I finished posting

For my part, I'd consider life way too short to spend any of it trying to approximate the real molded weatherstrips with any kind of generic U-shaped whatever.

For parts like weatherstrips, given there's a bewildering number of them on the car (are you thinking of the ones around the body frame, the ones around the doors themselves, or both, and so on), the best way to shop is to pick them out on an exploded parts diagram.

Toyota's main parts web site used to have such exploded diagrams and you could select parts right off them, and then they changed to the new site you found, where you can't.

Therefore, you'll fare better at the sites of certain individual Toyota dealerships that haven't adopted the new system from the mothership yet, and still have working parts diagrams. ➡Longo Toyota⬅ would be one. Notice sometimes you have to try a few diagram titles to find which one shows the parts you want. (I would not first have thought of door weatherstripping as "interior" trim, but then, I guess, you don't see it when the door is closed.)

A member here often recommends amayama, which also has working parts diagrams. They have attractive pricing too, I guess, though they ship from overseas, and you should carefully read their terms regarding customs duties and tariffs.

Cheapest option is to occasionally use some Shin-Etsu grease and/or 303 protectant to keep the original weatherstrips from needing replacement. I understand that's little comfort if the time has already come.

I'd be afraid for anything you do with some generic sold-by-the-foot weatherstrip to turn out as a glaringly bush-league repair that permanently reduces your happiness with the car.

Check the prices on amayama, but again, be very careful studying their terms about customs duties/tariffs.

what you mean by bush-league repair? this is just some rubber which gets replaced... why is a generic weatherstrip bush-league?

Wait'll you see what you've got after struggling to make some by-the-foot roll of rubber fit where the molded weatherstrip goes.
