Downloaded for very near future viewing.
The 763 boat - USS Santa Fe (a 32-year-old 688i) for some reason is not pictured on the book.....

The 1500+ comments in the UT video pretty much tell the tale.
ALSO noteworthy is the fact that Dave (a Canoe-U alum) didn't screen for flag.
He cared more for his crew's careers than he did for his own (Navy) career.....

I was impressed that torpedo rooms were not in the front and back. They launched them so the body of the ship (boat?) blocked the sound from the target. I suspect the wire is by now fiber with something like Kevlar sheath. Nice tech!

It's more like they put the sonar, and the VLS in the bow, and the engineering spaces take up all the room back aft.

Flooding the tubes down and launching the fish will generate a significant transient (human made sound) and the '48 generates noise even on a stalking profile - but if you're close enough to hear one.... ;)

    Here you go!
One of the latest boats in the water......

It's going to be a good year for the Silent Service!
    USS Massachusetts is SSN-798
The 799 boat (Idaho) is also in commission as of April making 26 boats in the class with Arkansas (SSN-800) and Utah (SSN-801) rounding out the Block-4 boats.

The next sub-type (pun nearly unintended) will be the Block V Virginia class beginning with the 802 boat - USS Oklahoma.
Keep your eye on that one. -that's all I'm saying AND all I know..... ;)
"....While later Block V submarines (SSN-803 and beyond) will be extended to 460 feet by adding the Virginia Payload Module (VPM) amidships, the SSN-802 retains the original length of the earlier Block I–IV Virginia-class boats."
