    Who cares?

That's an emergency resource, for use in roadside emergencies, and it's less than optimal a few ways around. Great to have when you really need it, but it was never intended for maintenance duty and most of them never get used at all.

What I’m trying to get across is that pinch weld is a lousy point for either a jack or jack stand.

Don't be silly, that's a perfectly good way to lift a unibody car.

Yes, you can scratch the paint or bend a little metal if your jack or stands don't have soft saddles like the ones pictured upthread... but this isn't exactly a high bar to clear.

That area inside the pinch rail is specifically reinforced to bear the weight of more than one quarter the weight of the car.

While the top surface of the scissors jack does not perfectly match the bottom surface of the rail, the indentation is slight and superficial.

A good pinch weld jacking pad of appropriate durometer will prevent the minor indentation, although the indentation is insignificant and not visible.

The soft but compliant UHMW Spectra adapters are exactly what manufacturers use on production lines for new vehicles.

Unlike rubber, the material is used to make bullet proof vests is exceptionally durable and long lasting. It will not be readily cut or fracture.

Rather than carrying the 12 lbs. Toyota supplied OEM scissors jack, I carry a 1-1/2 ton floor jack in my car's rear compartment. It weighs only about 4 lbs more.

I recently used it to change a blowout and it was wonderfully easy.

Well, I've been silly with our 2010 since purchase in november 2010, rotated the wheels maybe 32 times now, placing jack stands at these points:

There's likely similar on gen 4.
