https://www.autoblog.com/news/toyota-updated-the-prius-for-2026-without-changing-its-looks Well, minor updates to me.
As always they get you to click on the link and get past an attack of ads while you scroll down trying to find what the changes are. I sure hope someday this stupid racket of not giving people the information they wanted when they clicked on the link and instead withhold the information until you've seen a hundred ads first is outlawed. We need to make knowledge free again rather than how many ads you're willing to endure to learn something. Anyways, here's the only substance in the entirely way too long article even though its pretty short: "2026 models now come with speed-sensitive automatic door locks and impact-sensing door-lock release systems, and the Toyota Safety Sense suite adds adaptive high beams as standard. The AWD E-Four models will now get an additional drive mode called Snow Extra, and a new color called Neutral Black will be available for all variants except the HEV X. Rounding out the changes for 2026 are added memory functions for Auto Brake Hold, the discontinuation of the manufacturer option to add a spare tire, and the Night Shade color is no longer available for the PHEV G."
That's for sure the most annoying one of all... Sure would be funny if the executives most responsible for eliminating the spare tire always got a flat tire every time they were headed to their most important meetings. It'd be so delightful to see the look on their face when they realize it just happened again and again and again.
They would simply tell their chauffeur/driver to take care of it. If it happened continuously, they would probably get fired.
the discontinuation of the manufacturer option to add a spare tire I'm trying to understand that statement. Maybe a direct quote from Toyota (aka “the manufacturer”)? First impression: mealy-mouthed drivel.
The changes are for the Japanese market. Guessing they had a factory or dealer option for the spare tire and attending parts.
