I just recently, as in the last couple days moved into a 2024 Gen 5 Prius LE. Sometimes a message comes up on the main screen that tells me that it will shut off after an hour if I don't tell it no.

I had this happen one time when I was sleeping in the back. Thankfully I woke up as it's over 100F outside here today.

Is there a way to keep this from happening? I have it in park, with the parking brake on and the doors locked form the inside.

My 2013 gen 3 Prius would just stay on forever with no complaints.

Any advice would be helpful! Thank you!

On my Venza, when I open the driver's door to go to my mailbox, a message warns me that the car will shut down after an hour, but also displays the option to keep it running instead. Try opening your door and see if the same message appears on your Prius. The option may also be discussed in your owner's manual (but good luck trying to find it...;))

I've read the "Automatic Hybrid Shut Off Function" will by default power off your vehicle after approximately 1 hour when ALL of the following five conditions are met:
    1. The hybrid system is operating.
    2. The vehicle is parked.
    3. The shift position is P.
    4. The brake pedal is released. (logically, I don't take that to also mean the emergency brake)
    5. The automatic hybrid system shut off function is enabled.
So, how to enable/disable it ...
I've read it can be disabled only when the hybrid system is already operating and either of these two operations are performed.
    1. A door lock operation is performed using the mechanical key.
    2. A door lock operation is performed using the driver or front passenger door control switch.
It will always revert back to enabling the automatic shutoff function when any of these three things happen:
    1. The ignition switch is turned off or the hybrid system is unintentionally stopped.
    2. The driver door is opened.
    3. The shift position is changed from P.
Never tried or tested it myself but have no reason to believe this shouldn't work. I'm actually counting on it to work to provide selective continuous backup power around the home for things like a refrigerator using the 120-volt inverter that's included in my model of the Prius Prime.
