Preemptive oxygen sensor swap before cat shield install?

My son will soon take possession of my mother's 2012 Prius. The car has been garaged its whole life and has no cat shield. When it moves to its new location at my house it will live in the driveway, a few feet from where the cat was stolen off my 2007, and so it will need a shield. The car only has about 72k miles. We're wondering if it would make sense to install a new oxygen sensor before putting on the shield? There are no codes, at least there weren't when I last saw the car earlier in the year, but while that sensor is probably still good, it is also 14 years old. Much easier to replace it before the shield goes on. Thoughts?
