multisession cd

Just a basic troubleshooting suggestion - have you tried playing the CD on a different player? If the trouble follows the CD, that's where your problem is.

 

Interesting, I haven't heard anyone trying to use "multi session" to add songs and then playing it on the audio system. I didn't even know you could do that!

Let me know what you find.

 

You sure you mean Bose and not JBL?

It's possible they allow multiple sessions to play only after you've finalized the disc. That isn't as good as your boom box, but that could be what they mean.

Testing the disc on a computer will only tell you that the burn went OK, because we already know that most computers handle multi-session properly. It's audio players that can behave differently.

Try finalizing and see if anything changes.

That said, the phrase "multi-session compatible CDs" makes no sense to me. Every recordable CD is multi-session compatible. If they meant a multi-session CD, they should have said so. Could just be a typo, or someone at Toyota is confused.

 

Since jackovaltrades never followed up, and I have had the same issue, I'll state that finalizing the disc, at least in my '06 Prius, does not show the tracks from sessions beyond the original one. Note that I am using a CDRW disc - not that that should make a difference.

Multi-session compatible must mean something like, the player will play the first session from a multi-session CD, but not subsequent sessions. I hope they change this in the next Prius revision. Most every CD/dvd player these days recognizes multi-session cds. This is a Prius niggle that I am a bit disappointed with. In order to "work around" this, you will have to burn an entire cd in one session. I'm glad I'm using RW CDs to build a disc first. Once I have the disk completely filled, I'll copy all the tracks to a CD-R and record them all in a single session.

 

I think the OP is discussing using a data disk containing MP3s. You can burn multi-session data disks, and according to the owner's manual the audio system should be able to play them correctly.

On the other hand, there isn't a multi-session standard for Redbook audio CDs

 

Since when did the Prius come with Bose audio systems? It must be the 6-disc JBL Premium Sound system unless it was installed aftermarket, in which case I'm curious how the bluetooth and any other audio features (GPS if applicaple on an '07 pkg 5) are working on an aftermarket installed system. I'm thinking it must be JBL, if possible can you post pictures of the audio system on your dash?
