I started working on the "Prius Modifications" page of the ChicagoPriusGroup website and then just worked on other pages that, well, interested me more. I'm not a modifications person so it's not really my area of expertise.

Wayne's been telling me that I need to add more things and I think it was Nerfer who was telling me to put more stuff on there. So I decided to do just that. The problem is that since I'm not a modifications guy, I don't really know what to put. So I've once again decided to turn to the populous.

Here's what I would like to do: create three categories for mods: Free or Almost Free, Less than $100, More than $100.

I figure I'm going to let you all do the typing and explaining. Please keep in mind that I intentionally try to keep the explanations simple. When people want more explanations, they can go to a meeting or come here. I don't want people being scared away from the CPG site by extremely technical explanations. Or maybe you can give all the details here in PriusChat but don't get offended if I thin it down for the CPG site.

    Here are a few examples:
    Free or Almost Free
    Blocking your Grill
[list of benefits and a how-to]

    Less than $100
    EV Button
[list of benefits and where/how to order]

    More than $100
    BT Stiffening Plate
[list of benefits and where/how to order]

I think you get it. If you can provide pictures, that would be great too.

Let's see...what mod could cost around $50...experienced installers can do in less than 30 minutes...helps with the cheapie and greenie sides of Prius ownership...great idea for those short commutes...must be fun to do since some wacky Prius owner has been traveling up and down the Atlantic seaboard doing these mods for people...what's that called  .

I updated my post, didn't want to scare anyone else with the "more than $1,000, less than $10,000" price. Installed for $1,100. Worth every penny to me.

I always swore my "next car" would have a sunroof... and that was 2 cars ago.
Where'd you have yours done? Any warranty violation concerns, changes in car insurance rates, etc? Any problems with weather sealing yet? (I remember my cousin's add-on sunroof, 10 years ago... leaked within 2 years.)

I just checked out the handle. Not a bad solution. However, it needs to be attached to the two bolts on the bottom of the license plate, which the Prius doesn't have. Do you have to drill new holes in your hatch door?

Less than $100, the plastic bug guard. Available in Canada (like the mudguards) but can be had in the U.S. if you know where to shop.

More than $100. Did anyone mention those glue on faux wood paneling pieces you can put on the inside?

That's my vote too! Plus I started a thread a while back about cheap/easy mods. Not much came of it - but a few items of note.

Free: Turn the rear-view mirror upside down, so it doesn't block so much of your forward-right view (for tallish drivers). But it means your night-dimmer thing isn't automatically aimed right, not that I use it, especially in summer.

All-weather cargo mats already mentioned. That's about it for me. I saw FireEngineer had a neat Prius-styled plastic shield on the back bumper.

I didn't know about the rear-wiper shaving, I'll need to check that out for sure.
Edit: Ah, it's near the bottom of Darell's list: http://www.evnut.com/prius_mods.htm, complete with pictures - thanks, I'll have to try that out!

I didn't hear anyone mention the SCAN GUAGE II and a Blend Mount or mount in a place other than above/below the rear view mirror. Scan gauge II in the Priuschat shop. Blend mount on Ebay.
    SG II $149
    Blend mount ~$30
