Yeah, once they're IN the Prius they stay in the Prius, it really doesn't have anything to do with your phone, except as a delivery mechanism for pushing them into the Prius. Which the iPhone won't do... But since you already had them there, you're golden. :)

Is it possible to be listening to audio with the iphone plugged into the AUX in of my Prius, and then receive a call using the bluetooth handsfree?

The reason I ask this is I currently have a Treo 680, and the bluetooth will not function until i pull the audio cable out of the treo first.

    Thanks,

    Brian

Nope. The bluetooth is disabled when you use the jack.

Yes. When you receive a call the music pauses and allows you to answer the phone. When the call terminates the music resumes. Excellent for audiobooks.

....no. Read the part about how bluetooth is disabled when there's a cable in the headphone jack.

Apple intentionally did this to save on battery life.

    Brian,

I have an iPhone and I currently connect on my 2006 Prius through the AUX input to the car stereo (from the headphone jack on the iPhone). When phone calls come in the bluetooth works fine, and the Prius cuts the music automatically so you can hear/talk through the Prius bluetooth connection (via the Prius built in microphone). Same is true when dialing out via the Prius MFD.

    Best regards,

    Eric

Thanks everyone. That's great news. I've been thinking about dumping my treo and this might seal the deal. I also listen to tons of audiobooks and podcasts. It's such a bummer to plug and unplug the darn headset cable. Also on the treo the callerid info doesn't display on the MFD.

iPhone and the Prius - Using the iPod Function

I tried plugging my iPhone into my 2007 Prius through the AUX input to the car stereo (from the headphone jack on the iPhone) to use the iPod function, but it did not work.

Yes, the stereo was in AUX mode, and the phone was firmly plugged in. I tried using my iPod Shuffle in the same manner; it worked perfectly.

I apologize if I am being completely ignorant here, but what I am doing wrong, if anything? Do I need to use a different interface cable?

    Thanks :rain:

P.S. The phone function and Bluetooth work flawlessly, so I do not any assistance there.

Re: iPhone and the Prius - Using the iPod Function

Since you say it's firmly plugged in, I assume the cable you're using does fit inside the iPhone's recessed jack (otherwise it would likely be loose). I also assume you've tried it with headphones/earbuds and they work fine. The only other suggestion I have is to check the volume level on the iPhone. Perhaps it's too low?

Thank you to all who replied. I discovered that the only headphones that work with my iPhone are the ones that came with it.

I will head to the Apple store this weekend to get the correct cable.

I was browsing your forums and I saw that previously, using SL2I with the iphone, there would be a nag screen recommending that the iphone to be put into airplane mode. Is it still the case?

If so, would just clicking "no" make it go away (and it will never come back for the duration of the drive)?

    Thanks in advance.

I have a 2005 Prius and an iPhone. When dialing out, the person I am calling cannot hear me for the first few seconds of the connection. Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

What about the SL2Vi? Does it work with the iPhone 3G?

I received my Prius V with ATP last night. When I got home a pared it to my iPhone. Then I touched the contact list and it said there was no contact list loaded, did I want to upload the one from the iPhone. I said yes and in two seconds it said it was complete. I didn't think it worked since it was too easy and too quick, but never the less my entire contact lit from the iphone had been loaded up to the car. I didn't push the contact list, it pulled it.

One other really cook feature, is on voice command you can say "select phone" and you can switch to another phone on the fly.

2008 Prius--is the iPhone able to transfer contacts yet? I noticed all the posts here are old! Thanks for the info!
