Trying to clean up private messages

I thought this would be a good time to clean up my PMs. I selected a few from a particular user and moved them to a new folder, no problem. Then I saw the Search option. Cool, I could search for all the PMs to or from this user and move them to the folder all at once :)

:( No such luck. The only options after a search and select all was Delete or Download in various formats. Less than optimal functionality.

Oh, the smilies change color and appearance. Using the Advanced reply option I chose a happy smile that looks a little smaller and whiter, and a frown that is yellow. That's not what appears in the post. The smiler is larger and the frowner is blue.

Thanks for the upgrade Danny. [you] will be very happy if you happened to leave a particular setting unnoticed.

I'm wondered what was taking so long. Now I see the new site I'm impressed!

I sure wish Danny ran the IT a my company, well done all.

Message order?

I was looking at this thread on LED lighting and noticed that the dates of the posts seem to jump all around. The first one is from November 2007, the next from 2004, and so it goes, jumping dates from year to year.

Why?

Okay, to combine a test post and high kudos...
.
If y'all had also been hanging out on CleanMPG, you would have
already been used to vBulletin since that's what it runs on!
Sure, there are a few differences but I'm sure migrating a previous
forum to the new bbs software with all the messages INTACT was a
huge undertaking. I was urging y'all [via nattering with efusco]
to definitely take your time and it looks like the results were
worth it.
.
The best part? All those webpages I've got with embedded Priuschat
links still work, i.e. y'all made /index.php?showtopic=NNNNN
work via a redirect. You guys are *gods* for preserving that, or
I would have had to spend the night scrambling to fix all
that stuff.
.
=== test section follows ===
two or more spaces ... --> nope, shrunk to one per

blankline above/below --> nope, still didn't work for me

this is a link --> cool, that still works
this is a really huge long line without any breaks that runs well off the end of 80 cols so we can see what gets wrapped or not wrapped...

Private Message notification

"If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message."

I believe this Control Panel options should be an opt-out rather than needing to be opted in. I would imagine only Danny and the Mods receive so many PMs that the volume could become obnoxious at times.

If you click on the poll result numbers on the right side, you will see that (as of this writing) I am the only one who has voted.

BUT, I did vote in this poll before the software upgrade.

AND, with me having voted in a prior poll and my name showing up . . . that means that (apparently) all polls existing prior to the software upgrade are set to make the new voters public. (not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but I could imaging someone complaining for being outed.)

No TOP button?

After I make a post, I usually click the TOP button under my new post, then VIEW NEW POSTs. The new board has the VIEW NEW POSTs feature, but I don't see a quick link to the top of the page. It's not a big issue, since you can scroll to the top, but has anyone found an efficient way to step through posting on the new board?

A suggestion

Now might be a good time to reorganize the local clubs a bit. I find it confusing that the path is
PriusChat Forums > Local Clubs > Local Prius Club Main Forum > OR - Oregon State

Also, many of the messages are quite old and some options are no longer available, like [email protected] for an email address or http://PriusChat.com/oregon as a sub domain.

Not a high-priority item.

There are still some things that cleanmpg.com doesn't explain. Like I don't have a clue how to use multiquote. Some of us have never been on a forum before and I think a 'how-to' section would be helpful later when all the important ends have been tied up.

Danny you did an awesome job.

wow.. I was expecting Feb 2009. Well it's the end of Jan, close enough :p.

hmm... I like the mix of old PC emoticons and the new emoticons that I see elsewhere.

New Prius Chat Software

Having trouble with my signature...it shows the codes. I tried to correct this in the signature, but it wouldn't save the changes. Thanks.

I used to have "Cat Lovers Against the Bomb" below my user name. Now it's back to "Senior Poster," and when I tried to change it. I can't get farther than "Cat Lovers Against the Bo." Apparently there's a (too small) character limit.

Oh, and I hate the new smileys. Please give us back the old basic smiley-face.

OH!!! And there's no "Preview message" for the quick-reply window at the bottom of a thread.

User Options

I clicked on my own name to see what happened. I got my public profile, all well and good. I noticed a link called User Options at the right side and clicked it.

I got:

Bill Merchant, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Hmmmmm what's this link for?

If you can do this I think it would be a good idea to make text in the signature to have a default size value of 1. This way it makes it easier to distinguish between the post and the signature.

I think maybe the quick reply is not working and giving the error "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters." because when I post in the normal reply it posts OK.

I'm with you Bill. I asked the question earlier and got no response. Danny was reluctant to make the change on the old format so I'm sure it is not a high priority fix.

Incorrect link on 404 page

It looks like my shortcut to the main forum page was broken in the upgrade, I visited the 404 page instead (http://priuschat.com/404.html).

Under most popular links, I found that the link for PriusChat Forums has a typo--says prisuchat.com/forums, rather than priuschat.com/forums

Site Looks Great - THANKS
3 items:
1. Any way to have Year and Make of car mandatory; I can see all the "what year/type Prius do you have?" questions starting all over again.
2. Any way to mark all items as read (like old software) so only new unread items appear when you click Read New Posts?
3. I've set the number of posts per page to 40, but only 25 appear per page.
