I have a base 2008 Prius, with 1 play CD, but no cassette player?
Can I transfer a used radio, CD player, cassette player from 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 to my car?

He will know what works and can supply a tested, salvaged stereo to you at a reasonable cost. I bought a 2006 stereo for my 2004 from him for $82 total cost.

People are still using cassettes? Must be time to transfer all those old cassette tapes to CDR or mp3. Just use the "line in" jack on your computer to record them, it's dead easy.

You probably know that the JBL stereo has a separate power amplifier, located under the front passenger seat. I suggest that you look at your 2005 to locate this and note the wiring harness.

Then look at your 2008 to see whether you can find that wiring harness. If yes, then there's a reasonable chance that you can swap the stereos without too much trouble.

If you don't find the wiring harness then you'll have to fabricate the necessary wiring to effect the swap which is probably more trouble than it is worth. Better to buy an iPod, load it up with your music, and plug into the AUX jack of the 2008.

I both an 04 with JBL system, and an 08 with standard AM/FM-CD system.

There's ton's of difference in sound of the two.

Haven't tried to install a JBL complete system into another car, but would be worth it if you can get the complete sytem.

I have a 2005 with the JBL cassette/6CD changer. Later models (Std or JBL) sacrificed the cassette but added MP3/CDRW playback.
