The McDonalds by my house offers reasonable health insurance... even tuition reimbursement. The city I live in has clinics that are either free, or very cheap. If I had no insurance and was very poor, I could easily go to the one of the many city clinics and receive adequate care for little or no money.

Fear mongering isn't going to sway me to want to push Hillarys socialistic agenda. As I mentioned before, health insurance isn't a guaranteed right. It is a privilege. I am thankful for the healthcare I have. I do not demand it.

oh.. and yes.. it is nice to be me. I enjoy it very much. Wouldn't want it any other way. ;)

yeah, one can always go flip burgers for $7.50 or $8 per hour, if you're able to perform those job duties. pride and career investments that you may or may not still be paying off aside, there is still usually a 3 month waiting period during which you may need medical care. ESPECIALLY if you were originally out of a job because of an injury, which is usually something that needs to be taken care of right away. and then there's the waiting period for pre-existing conditions. that's a long wait regardless. at your new employer, you don't have FMLA protection because you haven't worked there long enough and they're perfectly able to fire you for taking too much time off to spend at the hospital. there's a lot at stake no matter what you do.

i'd like to see free clinics do advanced pain management procedures for a ruptured disc. you don't get the high end stuff for free, ya know. our last hospital visit billed out around $5800.

It's a shame that the people who need political change the most (the disenfranchised) are least likely to vote. Or they are convinced (by the well organized Right) that keeping gay people from marrying each other, or stopping a womans right to choose, or the threat from immigration is more important than issues that directly affect their daily lives (like healthcare, or minimum wage, or the environment).

How in the world did you interpret that from my post??!!

I am talking about disenfranchised citizens who do not vote or vote for a candidate that does not represent their interests. Last I checked illegal immigrants can't vote.

Who do you think Hillary is pandering to when she gets behind that podium and preaches about "Universal Healthcare" for all, including illegal immigrants? Who do you think her target market is when she proclaims she will give amnesty to all those illegals and give them healthcare?

It sure isn't the working-class American. The men and women of our country that work legally and are provided healthcare by their employer... The liberals spew liberal "hand-out" ideaology in order to obtain the "give me hand-outs" crowd votes.

If someone doesn't go out, get an education, and a good job.. it isn't my responsibility to provide them with healthcare. Every American in this country has been given the opportunity for the same state/federally mandated public education. If you can't take that education to the next level and attend a college or university - don't expect the rest of us to foot the bill because you can't provide for yourself or your family.

Michael Moore is just as bad as O'Reilly or Hannity... He cuts, edits, and outright fabricates things to fit his sick liberal ideaology.

    People are so gullible.

how can a person vote for someone who does not represent their interests? how do you determine what another persons interests are? And once you explain that to me, whose fault would that be if not their own? And how do you propose to fix that if you could - vote for them?

do you honestly believe this? it seems like someone or some group has done to you what you fear might be done to others

or, it could be that you are:

    1. against a federally set artificial minimum wage that tends to hurt the poor more than it helps,
    2. against socialized medicine,
    3. for a healthy economy that allows for us to take care of our environment better.
    4. understanding that abortion is properly a State's rights issue
    5. understanding that gay marriage is universally opposed by the overwhelming majority of Americans and should be left for the people to decide and not be done by judicial or governmental fiat.
    6. understanding of the dangers/costs and effect on our culture and society of illegal immigration.

just curious, do you think illegal immigrants here are deserving of access to our health care system at our expense?

recently i was billed 430 dollars for drops that i received from the hospital because i didn't have insurance or health care of any kind. for pink eye.... pink eye... common.. i thought i scratched my eye and it was serious. if i knew it was pink eye, i would have gone online to pay 7 dollars for a tube of antibiotics.

Why did the Republicans fight against Motor Voter laws allowing people to register to vote at the DMV?
The answer is they dont want to encourage the middleclass or poor to vote in their own interests.
The Republican strategy of discouraging the poor from voting is well documented.Having police roadblocks near polls, removing registered voters from eligibility lists, not providing enough ballot machines in poor areas.
The issues of gays and abortion were exploited as the GOP "get out the vote" strategy. They simply add a gay or abortion or immigration proposition to the ballot insuring that their bigots will make it to the polls.

whose responsibility is it to get a person to vote?
Me personally, everyone should have a Federally issued ID card with some sort of biometrics on it. no id card, no vote.
do you honestly believe the democrats totally innocent of election shenanigans? they even have their rally calls too, no? Ever vote in chicago? how do you think jfk won the presidency? having lived there, it was amazing to see dead people voting - jeez, that democrat machine was amazing - more votes than people - u know what they say there - vote early and often

You know how you get pink eye right?
Heh heh... Knocked Up was such a funny movie.

    mojo..
As for the demonizing of Republicans... that is to be expected. The poor always need to have their scapegoat for being poor or for why things aren't going their way.

Maybe if they had made better life choices they wouldn't be in the situation they're in. Maybe, just maybe, if they had paid attention in school, gotten an education, put down the pot pipe, and gotten a good job... maybe they wouldn't be trying to get the rest of us to foot the bill for their expenses. Perhaps if they turned off their television, stopped watching the liberal propaganda, and got out there and did something.. they might get something done.

Maybe, just maybe, if they quit blaming George W. Bush for every atrocity in the world, they'd see the big picture.

I was a liberal once too... when I was young, poor, and stupid. Before I started making good money and was able to take care of myself. Before I developed a skill/obtained an education... I was a liberal. I thought the government should take care of my every need, because I didn't have the means necessary to TAKE CARE OF MYSELF.

Nobody is going to give you those means. Nobody is just going to show you the path to success. You've got to reach out and TAKE IT.

Liberals just want it handed to them. Michael Moore and all his liberal followers are constantly demonizing America and all that it stands for.

I agree it is peoples own fault who vote for the candidate that does not have their interests in mind. Thats what the Republicans are banking on when they put antigay inititives on ballots, and convince these people that gay marriage will ruin their lives. Meanwhile they are living pay check to pay check with no health insurance and praying for a son in Iraq.

Lucky you...since you caught a few breaks and took advantage of them you have the right to say piss off to anyone who might have gotten sick when they were "young and poor" and are now saddled with huge medical bills. Aint America great!

It isn't my responsibility to ensure the welfare of every person in this country that has failed to succeed. The world is a tough place. Life isn't fair. Sorry.

One more thing.. since dberman brought it up.
Marriage is a religious institution and should be treated as such. The government has no business in the marriage business. The necessity to obtain a marriage license was implemented to prevent whites and blacks from getting married. It is inherently a racist agenda that was brought forth by the Democrats, long ago. Marriage in this country as we know it is typically a religious ceremony. The government should have absolutely no say in who gets married. It should be left entirely up to a Church if they want to marry someone.

Such a poor attitude for a nation. Anti-community sentiments like this are the exact reason why I often think leaving the country would be nice. To not be surrounded by such selfish attitudes. I have news for any of you that truely subscribe to such worldviews, the world is based on networking and in human communities such selfishness and lack of compassion is devestating. Fortunately I meet enough people in my daily routines that shun this form of worldview and I am renewed with hope for us as a species. If the nation collapses because of views like this then good riddance.

When business and the government treat people differently according to their "mariatal status" then it does become governments duty to prescribe marital status. Plural marriages are not recognized by the state, but are recognized within the religion it was ordained; meaning the marriage has no "legal" status. That is what homosexuals in "a marriage" want.

BTW, And no one is asking for YOU to ensure the welfare of EVERY person. I think it would be nice to live in a country where everyones tax dollars are used to help people when they get sick. Call me crazy...no, you could call me a Christian.

Socialism is the enemy. Government dependance is the enemy.

How can you be free, if you rely on the government?

Pull up your britches and act like a big boy.
