Seaside Pearl, Special Edition Premium, 2007/09/06, Ottawa, ON

Well, the 26th has come and gone, and while I was given a +/- 2 days for delivery, I will have to be patient a little bit longer. The car has made it to Toronto as of Yesterday and should be on its way to us here in Ottawa (I've half a mind to take the train down to TO and pick it up myself!) SOON™.

I'm excited. Like, whoa.

The only bad part is that the person to whom I was supposed to transfer my lease backed out at the last minute, so I'm left with my extra car. No biggie though. Just have to work extra hard to get rid of it.

Unfortunately, I heard from my dealer on Thursday that all the Prii that were in the same boat as mine that had landed in Vancouver were held up longer than usual (2 weeks) due to quality control issues on the seats. Apparently there were a few failures. In any case, they've since been released and should be on their way to their final destinations. Mine is now apparently scheduled to arrive Dec. 12, 2007.

I'm so glad I have a kindred spirit here!

Tell me about the lots of driving around the Christmas season. I volunteer for an organization called Operation Red Nose (Opération Nez Rouge) and if you're not familiar with it, essentially, we volunteer to help keep people who've driven their cars out but have had some drinks from driving home. We'll drive the person and their car home for free. Anyway, I'm doing that for three nights this year (Dec 21, 22, 28) and I can easily put on 300-400km a night on those three nights, plus the trips to visit family, etc.

I'm hoping I have it by the 12th (which is the tentative date right now) so I have time to familiarize myself with its inner workings. Besides, it's a big, brand new toy and I WANT IT NOW! (In the voice of a 3 year old)

We've got each other's backs!

Okay, it's actually really confirmed now. The car is in the warehouse in Toronto and is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday the 12th of December, barring any more snow storms or (Flying Spaghetti Monster Forbid) an accident on the 401/416.

I've also asked to be switched salespersons because the one who I bought with has left since I placed the order, and the person who took my case over almost never returned my calls and provided me with some false info. So after a very frank discussion with the General Manager, my case was assigned to another person who has been nothing if not helpful. I'm quite happy with this change and the level of service that I'm getting with this new person.

In any case, I'm afraid the first pictures I'll have of the car won't be against some beautiful leafy backdrop, but likely the mound of snow in my laneway, all salt-and-slush stained. Sexy! ;-)

The saga's coming to a close, slowly but surely.

You know, I'm always polite and courteous, but when I give the person at least three chances with not a peep, I have no problem in escalating the issue. Either way, I think everything's smoothed out today, and my new dealer got back to me within half an hour today, which was awesome.

Unless I hear anything different today (Tuesday), everything's a go for an afternoon delivery acceptance. I even took the whole day off work so I could spend a good amount of time familiarizing myself with the car. I have my priorities straight. LOL.

Well, the saga is quickly coming to a close. My dealer has told me that he's actually touched the vehicle and that it finally arrived (the snowstorm last night slowed it down coming from TO) and that I am scheduled to pick it up on Saturday at 9:00am.

There is finally an end in sight. Glory be. ;-)
