    Holiday Wishes

To My Fellow Democrat Prii Drivers:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than neither any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

To My Fellow Republican Prii Drivers:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well thank you! May you also enjoy a lucrative Sears Macys Bloomingdales Ace Hardwares Saks K-Marts Wal-Marts Nordstroms Restoration Hardwares Kragens Apples Dells Amazons Michaels Burberrys Panasonics surfeit of orgiastic material consumption!

The name of the holiday desperately needs to be changed, not to mollify any religious sensibilities but simply to accurately reflect the dominant, overwhelming, incessant, relentless, wanton consumerism being celebrated to obscene excess, to "CrushMash", where most of our time will be spent in the next few days in the mobbed aisles and corridors of great American retail.

So Merry CrushMash in the land where nine tenths of the country's youth thinks it's Santa's birthday - and where icons and altars of worship to Santa (in all the stores) outnumber the symbols of the season's putative hero whatsizname 400 to 1!

    And a Happy New Year!

This greeting would be lovely inside a nice, non-denominational holiday card. I wonder if it's available?

I could throw this up on cafepress for you to buy if you really want ;) If that's an original work and not lifted from elsewhere on the net, I'd be obligated to share profits with TheAnnoyingOne though! I could also just make a PDF so you could throw some nice card stock in your printer and make it yourself.

p.s. i made a slight edit to the first sentence... "implied or implicit" sounded redundant to me.

p.p.s. and now that I think about it, that should be the outside, and the inside should say "That is to say, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"

...and happy hanukkah, a couple days late.

because the true significance can be different things to different people.

Thank you Annoying One. I enjoyed that, even if it was intended to make fun of folks like me. :D

But what about Jewish, Hindu, or Muslim Republicans, etc.? Not every Republican is a Christian.

I'm going to bet that the Jewish, Hindu, and Muslim Republicans don't get all in a huffy when they see a cross, the 10 commandments, or any reference to "God". It's typically the liberal democrats that rant and rave about how much they hate "God", even though they don't believe in him.

When did this thread turn from being a light-hearted bit of holiday joking to the "Desynch moans about how some people practice different beliefs than himself" thread?

I bet you got a kick out of those "War On Christmas" graphics that were on TV a few years ago. The poor oppressed majority...
