odd MPG reading

    It cold and snowing here...

    I got into my Prius, turned it on, and got out and brushed off some of the snow. Then set out to doing some errands. The first reading on the consumption screen -- the first 5 minutes of driving -- read at 100 MPG and then dropped down to what one would expect.

    It's been cold before, and this hasn't happened. But I was wondering if something just got cold and didn't respond right? It's obviously some kind of fluke?

    Must be your turn to entertain the gremlins. Never heard of this before. Keep a log of what happens & when so you can bring it to the dealer's attention before the warranty expires.

    So the instantaneous MPG reading was weird -- did it significantly change the overall MPG reading?

    And it only happened just that once.
