The author's Prius got an accident and he replaced his Prius with the "10th Anniversary edition" this year.
http://toyota.jp/prius/anniversary/
So, his Prius MFD is now using GVIF digital interface.

He decided to use an external display.
Now, his MS-1 uses Sony PSP, PlayStation Portable, display.

Wow, I wouldn't mind buying a PSP and ripping off the LCD display for this. What is needed to do this? Will I need to build a circuit board for the MS1? I don't think so.... The PDF shows the PSP LCD screen hook up straight to the ODBII port.

Also what is that LED with the wire for? Is that optional?

Can anyone translate it for us? I really want to try this.

I didn't see this posted anywhere. But, I have been emailing the guy who made this and he is selling the CAN unit with a PSP screen for around $350 dollars. One little catch , he can't keep up with the orders in Japan. I did manage to get the screen part number : Sharp(LQ043T3DX).

Email quotes

The unit cost of MS-1 (including LCD) is approx. US$350.

I used the LCD made by Sharp(LQ043T3DX).
This LCD is for Sony PSP.

Currently there are two types of MS-1.
I think the second type MS-1 will work on the 2008 Toyota Prius(USA Version).

The first type MS-1 displays data on the MFD. And the second type MS-1 displays data on the exclusive 4.3inch LCD.
To install the first type to Toyota Prius, it is necessary that is produced Toyota Prius during 2004-2005, and be equipped with factory NAV.
Therefore the first type MS-1 does not work on the Toyota Prius produced after 2006.

Unfortunately it is out of stock.
Also in Japan several people want to get MS-1, like you.
However I do not have enough productive capacity.
Therefor I cannot supply enough MS-1 to the people who want it.

It does not sound like it includes shipping fee. Do you know how much it will be with shipping?

He only quoted me the $350. Other stuff I have ordered from Japan and Europe had pretty low shipping.

What ever happened with this? Is it available or is there something similar out there?
