Tire PSI

    Does anyone have one of them electronic portable power pump in their car? Mainly cause you're anal about your tire pressure... i'm bout to buy one.. so i can always just pump it...

    I use a cheap $10 pump from WalMart. It works great, I can add a few PSI to the Prius tires in just a few seconds.

    I hadn't even thought about that...it's such a hassle feeding quarters into the air machine at the gas station. I know what I'm asking for this Christmas.

    I pump mine up after each refuel. I carry my own gauge to check the service stations gauge but if it looks OK on the first tyre I use their gauge for the rest.

    This has me checking the tyres every 3 weeks or so.

    Are you talking about the battery pumps?

    I've had bad experiences with them.

    1) The nozzle is poorly designed. The threads of the valve sticks on the rubber that seals the tire pump nozzle, so sometimes you lose all the air you put in before your able to yank the damn nozzle off the tire!
    2) It takes at least 15 minutes to pump up one tire a few psi. Slooooow pumping speed.

    yea... this is partially why i opened this thread.. i'd like to get a machine that would pump at a decent PSI/s

    seems like marvmmarv has a good pump... maybe he can share with us his experience..

    I got one at WalMart that I can plug into the cig lighter. Its about the size of a dustbuster, and I store it in the back. Brookstone sells one that is a tire pump and an emergency kit combined and is a bit more expensive, I just got my brother one for Christmas.

    It doesn't pump up as fast as the larger compressors at gas stations, but it certainly works fine, plus I can use it for bicycles, etc. around the house.
