Was reading an article in Inc. Magazine and came across this tidbit about the Bugatti Veyron, a US$1.4 million two-passenger (I think) car.

It goes from zero to 60 in 2.4 seconds, has a max speed of 254 MPH, and lists mileage of 9.5 city, 18.8 highway.

At its maximum speed, however, it can burn through a full tank of gas in 12 minutes.

Just thought I'd pass along that tidbit from the hypomilers... the other side is out there!

Best argument yet for a carbon tax.

Unfortunately at 1.4mil a copy I don't think a person buying one cares about carbon then again at 1.4mil a copy there won't be many running around either.

It's also unlikely to be driven more than a few hundred miles, ever. I bet half of them never have the shipping coverings removed. Many will be sealed in big plastic bubbles. The typical guy that buys a car like this makes it into a static trophy inside a gigantic temperature-controlled home garage/museum. They will never drive it on the street for fear of a paint chip or bird poop.
