No, but make sure that you get the 7.1 version that is compatible with your 05 Prius.

2002 was the first year. I have one of the first 2002's in my area and specifically waited to order so I could get the NAV.

Glennie, the NAV stuff has a lot of additional hardware than your CD player has. Things like a GPS receiver additional computers, and a gyroscope. In fact, the DVD player referenced is a completely different thing, hidden beneath the passenger seat in a 2002 Prius and the driver's seat in 2007 (I assume 2003 is the same as 2002 and 04-06 and 08 are the same as 07).

It seems that many folks are using the LOADING.KWI from 5.1 to make their newer versioned software (probably on their 2006+ Prius where the screen is digital) to allow the override that was present in 5.1.

I'm in the opposite position. I've got a 2005 Prius (where the screen is analog) and an original 4.2 DVD. I just bought a new 7.1 DVD for my 2005 Prius. I guess I need a 5.1 LOADING.KWI from somebody who has a 2004/5 Prius so that it supports the analog display? Does that sound right? Anybody got one?

Re: Nav data ver 7.1 for 2005

How much did that cost you? The dealer just quoted me 1000.00 for that disc!!! The part number is 86271-33047. This is data ver 07.1 .

I purchased the new Nav DVD from the dealer at a pretty high cost of course (gouge). Anyways, I went to install it (Data ver.07.1) and when i put it in my dvd drive it says "Reading drive data" or something along those lines, but nothing ever happens...

Is there a trick to install this? How long should I let the dvd read in? Am i missing something here? The dealer said to just put it in and it should be instantaneous? Did I get sent the wrong version? or?

I'm upgrading from the stock disc (2005). The updated new part number the dealer gave me was 86807-12016.

    Thanks in advance

Silly price. I bought it from the fellow at Metro who posted a topic here on PC.

    http://priuschat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39216

Was $220 + shipping. He just raised the price a bit more. See post #23 above for the part #. If you order through Metro he will ask questions of you to make sure that you get the correct part # for your car.

As for installation, I was doing too many things at the same time so I can't tell you the minimum requirements. I read elsewhere that you can indeed just insert the DVD and it should do the upgrade for you. I don't know if this is always the case. I had disconnected the negative terminal from the battery for about 5 minutes, which is definitely enough to cause the MFD to initiate a load of the new software. Do ***NOT*** use the "loading" option from the maintenance menu -- it's too easy to lock up your Nav ECU by using that option!

You'll loose the "override" with the new software of course, unless "we" find a way to retain that for 2005 Prius (which have an analog MFD) by finding the correct LOADING.KWI.

    Bill,
Do you know what the difference is between 86807-12016 and the one you ordered?

Im confused if I need to return my DVD I just purchased or not?

Nope. Give Metro a call. He may be able to help you out AND get you the part #.

Re: 7.1 Gen 4 still has I AGREE Message

I just installed the v7.1 DVD (86271-33047) in my 2005 Prius and it all works fine but I still get the "I AGREE" message, too. Looks like the posts saying the "I AGREE" message is gone in v7.1 is true only for the Gen 5 system (not our Gen 4).

I am looking for an upgrade disc for my 2005 Prius. It currently has version 4.1 in it. I'd like to upgrade to the latest version (7.1?). Does anyone have a copy (or original) that they would like to sell?
