Just put a little over 1400 miles on my '08 Prius. Kalamazoo, Michigan to Memphis, Tennessee. Returned home via Nashville and Louisville. Experienced all weather conditions on this drive. Snow, high winds and heavy rain. First, let me say that the auromatic climate control really cuts into the mileage. First two tanks were 44.5 and 39.3 mpg. For the drive back to Michigan, I turned off the automatic climate control and adjusted the temp manually. Huge mileage increase!! 53.6 and 59.2. The 53.6 was with the cruise set at 65 mph. This car thrived on the rolling hills of Tennessee and Kentucky. The 59.2 was accomplished when we ran into terrible fog. 50-60 mph without the cruise. These numbers are not from the trip computer. The computer does a pretty good job. Sometimes a little higher, sometimes a little lower than the real number. I'm using a MS Excel spreadsheet to record my averages.

Final note - This little car rocks. It fits my 6'2" 225 lb frame in reasonable comfort. My first thought in the morning is, "Where can I drive today?" Happy motoring.........................Rotorhead

    Excellent trip report but:
We never speak about this with non-Prius drivers. They won't understand and worse, some of the skeptics will claim we're driving more, beyond just the gas savings, and not saving any gas in the big picture. <GRINS>

ps. Seriously thinking about 'driving' to a health club when I should just walk there and back.
